Who should I invite to a bridal shower if I'm having a destination wedding?

Jackie, on May 17, 2013 at 1:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

I'm having a destination in Hawaii and we are inviting 40 people. Most of the guests we have invited are scattered throughout the US. My MOH would like to throw me a shower locally but only a few of my local friends have been invited to the wedding. Do you think it is ok to invite friends/coworkers to the bridal shower who aren't invited to the wedding? These friends/coworkers already know that I am having a small destination wedding and that they are not invited. Also, is it ok to send a bridal shower invitation to guests who are invited to the wedding but don't live locally(99% sure they will not attend the shower)? How can I make them feel included without making myself look like I want gifts? any advice?

I would still only invite those invited to the wedding.

Maybe have an engagement party where gifts aren't expected.

I was invited and went to a friends bridal shower who was having a DW that I wasnt invited to (and wouldnt have went anyways! Sadly.) But was happy to go to her shower! I didnt see a problem with it whatsoever! I dont think most people would. And if so, they can say no!

I'm having a DW also & was told it was proper etiquette to only invite those who are invited to the wedding...but I'm right with you Jackie, I want to have a bridal shower with everyone as well
