Who is your flower girl going to match?

Traci, on June 19, 2017 at 5:22 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 50

All the weddings I've been to, the flower girl has worn white/ivory to match the bride, with possibly a little pop of color added. The bridal salon where I bought my gown told me that no one is supposed to match the bride, flower girl included. So I googled it, and it seems some people match the FG to the bride and others to the bridesmaids. I'm just wondering what everyone else is doing?

My dress is blush with an ivory overlay and I bought my 3 flower girl ivory dresses with lace on the top. My dress looks more blush than ivory and the only thing I really wanted to match was the lace. You can do whatever you want.

Both these comments are very helpful! Thank you. I was sort of nervous to put them in their own color so I'm glad to hear people do that and I also have a blush/ivory dress and wad concerned about how to match the fg with it.

Pick something cute, can be a little different and that's ok. Here is a picture of my girls. Yes their dresses are actually Christmas dresses, but I love them. Eta: their dresses were big when we bought them but fit perfect now.

Mine is going with my black and gold colors. My BM are wearing black so she's gonna be rocking a gold dress.

My FG is in pink, the BMs are in blue. The colors are tied together in decor and flowers.

My FG is wearing ivory like me. I read that is traditional. Just because it's "traditional" doesn't mean you have to do it, but it's what helped me make up my mind. Our ring bearer is wearing navy like the groom too.

Our flower girl is matching the BM but she had a dual role of junior bridesmaid/flower girl. My dress is a light champagne color with a white lace overlay while my girls are wearing red dresses

My dress is champagne. And I let all the mom's chose their own flower girl dress. One girl is wearing ivory top with gray on the bottom. Another is all white with a flower belt. And my niece is wearing an ivory dress

    Ha. Funny story here.

My daughter was originally going to match the rest of the BM's. The dresses were from David's so it was easy. Well, we tried it on, and the dress was itchy (lots of issues with itchy clothes -_-) so we didn't get it. She didn't want a white poufy dress like mine, so we spent literally two months searching stores and online for a dress. She finally found one at JCP that was a blush color.

All this to say my FG ( or Jr BM, as she wanted to be called) didn't match anyone.

This is our wedding party, for reference. It didn't look bad at all, imo! And honestly, after two months of looking, I don't think I would have cared if it did look bad.

My niece is my flower girl, she's 10. I let her decide who she wanted to match (me) so I found a handful of age appropriate and reasonably priced dresses on DB website and she picked the one she liked the best.

Lol@ bemyguest. I'm glad it worked out! Someone else suggested just giving my FG het own color and that may just be the best option. Also, that dress is adorable!

@traci sometimes that's just easiest. Kids are picky, and if you can get a dress she can wear again her parents will love you for it! Just pick a complimentary color. I hope you don't have to spend so long like I did, and I hope your FG isn't as picky as mine!

My FG is 2 so she's just happy to wear a pretty dress! People honestly will not be concerned if they match or not so don't stress about it. My FG is wearing a blush dress with gray accents - just my wedding colors and not really matching anyone.

My daughter is my flower girl and she matches me, because I wanted it that way. Do what you feel is best and that looks best!

My FG is gonna be three. Her color is slightly off from my BM's but it's still in the purple family.
