Who did you show your wedding dress to?

Clarissa, on May 6, 2017 at 3:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 87

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I'm on mobile and can't search. I'm definitely torn if I should show my family my wedding dress prior to the wedding. A few of my cousins and close friends are asking to see pictures. Did you show off your dress before the big day? Or keep it to yourself? Help?!

I showed it to those that I was closest to (parents, sister, couple of best friends and FMIL).

My parents and one of my friends were with me when I said yes to the dress and I couldn't help but show a handful of friends as well. FH is dying to see it, not necessarily on me but a picture in general, and I have denied him haha

I've shown my SIL, my mom, his mom, his sister, my brothers (at the request of my mom; they weren't that interested), and I've shown FH a picture of me in it. I'm not good at keeping secrets when it's something I'm super excited about. Haha.

My mom, dad, and brother were there at the first appointment where I tried on the dress I eventually picked and my mom and aunt were with me when I went back to try it on and said yes. I did send a text with a picture of it to my MIL and BMs right after that (my mom and MIL live on opposite sides of the country...I went dress shopping while visiting my mom so unfortunately, MIL couldn't be there).

I did have a few friends ask to see pictures of my dress. I just made sure DH wasn't around before bring them up. And other than the text I sent to my BMs and MIL, I never sent the pictures to anyone else.

I did have a few people I wasn't as close with ask what my dress was like. I did not mention that I had pictures and just gave a quick verbal description.

I showed it to parents, BMs, 2 aunts, and 2 close friends that are long distance. I specifically told my mom NOT to give the picture she took to anyone, specifically my grandmother. Both my mom and grandmother are notorious gossipers and would share my dress with everyone they know in 5 minutes.

Edit: Oh and I showed FH. I don't think it's a big deal to share pics with him. The whole outfit with hair makeup and bridal radiance will be the surprise!

I've showed so many people. My parents, my aunts, my best friends, my brother, FMIL, and FH's grandma have all seen it. FH has even seen it because I get way too excited and suck at keeping secrets.

My mom and sister were at the appointment. So they saw the dress. I asked them to not distribute photos of the dress but my mom still showed pictures to her two sisters.

Thank you everyone! I got upset when my FMIL was showing other dresses I tried on to everyone at a family get together. So after my finding dress I told her to not to show anyone! I kind of want it to be a surprise for everybody at the wedding!

I shopped by myself. I showed my sister, BP and my MUHA a pic of my dress but just not on me, it was a stock photo. So technically only the shop ladies and seamstress have seen me in it. I'm not letting anyone see it until my big day Smiley smile

I honestly just showed it to whoever asked lol. No one that I'm not close to asked to see it.

I've literally shown anyone who asks... only person I care if it's a surprise for is my FH - he doesn't get any details -not about the color, silhouette, he has no idea I'm wearing a veil because I was always team no veil but changed my mind recently and I'm also not telling anyone that either

If And when you show people I would definitely show them on your phone but don't text any pictures. Once it's in their phones I don't trust people (unless like my mom lol)
