jessie, on December 29, 2015 at 9:20 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 32

In addition to your bridal party and/or good friends -- did you invite your siblings significant others? female cousins? curious as to what other people have done!

Edited: somehow my MOH's dress got in there, deleted!

I'll be inviting my five bridesmaids and maybe a couple extra friends/cousins!

    What's the dress?

I have four friends, so I just invited them Smiley smile

Haha seriously though, my four closest friends and my SIL were my bridesmaids, so it was just the six of us. I didn't really have anyone else I wanted to go on an out-of-town trip with and have to force fun between even more people!

My sister (MOH) set it up, it was her, 2 cousins, and about 8 friends. It was a blast (the parts I can remember at least).

I have a ten year old bridesmaid in my party. Besides, I'm not a party person. I'm inviting, my MOH and two bridesmaids of course, and about 4 friends. We are going to dinner and then having an old school slumber party.

My MOH asked me for a list - I gave her the 5 other bridesmaids, and a few other more recent friends. Since we are currently spread all over the country (California, Wisco, Illinois, Colorado, NYC, Rhode Island, Georgia) it'll likely be a girls getaway weekend somewhere - so I expanded the list to hopefully make whatever home rental we get a bit more cost effective for those who are able to make it.

I didn't have a Bach party... but I've been to many, my advice: I'd stick to trying to keep it to a smaller group that would really have fun together. The best parties are ones where everyone is kind of on the same page about the plans and want to have fun. I've been to some that were a real mixed bag of people, and it just wasn't fun.... Especially if you're doing a "night out" kind of thing. Conversations were forced and awkward, some girls didn't like to drink, the married girls sat huddled in a group, afraid to make eye contact with any male that wasn't their husband.... not a party vibe; Girls left obligated to be there. I'm not saying GET WILD, but choose your friends whom and truly friendly, whom can get along, chat up the bartenders to get the bride some free drinks, enjoy the environment, laugh at the comedy club, etc.

Just pick a good crew is all I can say! Then it doesn't matter what you do....

My BM who threw the party invited every female guest from the wedding (around 28 or 29?)

We had about 12 girls (and 1 guy). (4 were in my BP, and one was my mom. lol)

It was great. We went to dinner at this great little Italian place, and then went to a piano bar. Smiley smile

My bridal party, my college roommate and a close friend.

I didn't invite anyone on FH's side. I don't think it's necessary unless you are close to them.

What's the deal with the plus signs again? Someone posted once about how to get them to show up!

Bridal party (of course) and close girlfriends. Didn't invite SIL or MIL. My mom came to dinner and then went home. My female cousins live on the opposite coast and weren't invited to the wedding, either.

With sibling's significant others and female cousins - it really depends on the relationship that you have with them. If you are close with your cousins then sure, invite them! I've never hung out with my cousin outside of family gatherings, so it would be weird for me to invite her Smiley smile

I'm inviting my bridesmaids and closest female friends!
