White or Diamond White?- Maggie Brides

SummerBride, on June 25, 2010 at 12:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 30

Okay so I am stuck deciding between white and diamond white for my maggie. Of course they didn't have mine in either so I'm not quite sure how it will look on for either color. Does anyone have any suggestions or comparisons between the two colors? Pictures would be great, especially if you have a satin dress so I can see the fabric.

Also, I've heard diamond white is hard to match with the grooms tuxedo shirts and vests. Anyone have experience in this?

Diamond white is more of an off-white or ivory, and white is well, white. It just depends what you want. Your groom can still wear a white shirt and it won't clash, the color is very subtle. Mine is diamond white, as I don't think I look too good in stark white. Just depends on personal preference. The veils and accessories will all come in both colors, so it's easy to match.

You could ask Lady Lee her dress was a Maggie but I personally don't like stark white for my skin tone. The white is ususally VERY white.

@Steppy- Thanks for the pic. Which part of your dress was whiter in the diamond white: the satin or the organza?

Here are the FAQs from Maggie's site: http://www.maggiesottero.com/faq.aspx

What is the difference between White and Diamond White?

Our Diamond White is a very light ivory. It has a beautiful softness that makes it very flattering on all skin tones. White is a true, pure white color that would give you that "wedding white" look. Our authorized retailers will be able to show you the differences between Diamond White and White with their fabric swatches.

The satin was defintely the brighter of the two. i think the organza gave it that slight glow that makes it a step up from ivory. Which dress are you looking at?

I tried on a dress yesterday that was Diamond white, and compared to the other dresses it was VERY off-white. The lady in the salon said it would be really hard for me to match with everything, like guy's shirts, and anything else in the room that's white.

I personally liked the white white much better... but if you're okay with the guy's shirt's not being the exact color, and you love it... get it!

I prefer diamond white. And being that you wedding starts after 4, i think its prefect for an evening affair. I am a maggie bride buy my dress wasnt offered in diamond white so I got alabaster instead of white.

Thanks for the help ladies. I still can't make up my mind. I do like myself in white but I'm not really sure how white the stuff I usually wear is in comparison to the two shades. I know a lot of people say the Diamond White flatters most skin tones, but I am also worried about it not matching my FS's tux.

I was worried about it not matching as well, but it really is not bad at all! My sorority sister got married in FL and she wore a maggie sottero in diamond white and the groom wore an all white suit. They did not clash at all.

I got diamond white. just went to a mens store that does tux rentals and they had several selections of winter white and dimond white for the men and boys. Its actually closer to white than off white.

I chose Diamond white, I don't think it is anywhere close to ivory, it just isn't as harsh as white, and I was told it looks great in pictures. Mine is satin as well but not a Maggie.

My maggie is also diamond white and is satin. Sorry I don't have a pic on the computer I'm on now. I actually wanted ivory originally, but the dress I ordered didn't have it so I took diamond white as the next best thing. I think the best to determine the difference and what you really like is to see the fabrics together. A bridal salon should be able to show you a diamond white satin dress next to a white satin dress. Even if it's not the same one you're looking at it'll help you see the difference. B/c after awhile I start thinking "well diamond white looks the same as white" but trust me it doesn't! As for FH we had no prob having him match b/c he decide he wanted to wear a black tux w/a silver vest so all is well there.
