Which dessert would you prefer?

Tina, on February 13, 2020 at 6:30 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 16
Which would you prefer as a guest? We are not having a wedding cake but instead are having five different flavours of cupcakes (black Forrest, cannoli, raspberry with lemon curd, Boston cream, and kahlua chocolate).Would you prefer the assorted cupcakes or fewer cupcakes but also other desserts such as brownies, lemon tartes, mini cheesecakes etc?

I would say less cupcake options, and more other desserts. Not everyone will be able to eat cake. Cannoli cupcakes are one of my all time faves!!

I would definitely give the options of different desserts. With our previous plans (before we had to cancel) included a dessert table with brownies, lemon bars, cupcakes and cookies.

I would say to give people options and do a mix of desserts.

As much as I would love to have every single kind of cupcake in the flavors mentioned, I would go with variety- brownies, cheesecake, lemon tartes because not everyone likes cupcakes.

I'd prefer other options and that's what we did! We had 3 types of cupcakes, cookies, brownies and mini peach pies. The cupcakes & brownies were for sure the most popular, then the pies, then cookies were least popular. They were cheapest so we just got them as a buffer to make sure we had enough. If we did it over again, I would have supplied little bags at the end of the night for people to take home desserts.

Oh wow those flavors sound wonderful. We are also doing cupcakes and chose 4 different flavors. We thought about the different variety of desserts but decided to just stay with cupcakes. If I was attending a wedding I would prefer either (just cupcakes or variety of desserts). Guess I'm not much help so you should go with what you vision for your reception.

I would say less cupcakes and add some more desserts! I'm not a huge fan of sweets though so brownies and tarts are more up my alley!

Several weddings I’ve been to have had multiple flavored cupcakes, and they were all a hit! My fiancé and I asked for dietary restrictions on invitations in case people couldn’t eat cupcakes, and I’m glad we did. We ordered 12 gluten free/dairy free cupcakes. Since we have several dietary restrictions, I like it being simple like that rather than having a bunch of different desserts where you don’t know what has what and what doesn’t.

I have a sweet tooth so both of those options sound great to me haha. We will be doing a few flavors of cupcakes.

However, I had some people mention to me that if I had a lot of cupcake flavors, they would split like 6 between them and their spouse to try them all! That is why we are not doing an assortment of different desserts. I don't want them taking a ton of different things just to try it all... I also observed this happening at a friend's wedding. People took all 4 cupcake flavors to try them. Thankfully, her husband had insisted upon ordering an abundance of them so it was ok. I think it depends on your crowd.
