Where is My Dress VENT, Update!!!!!!

JC, on February 5, 2013 at 5:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

I am so mad right now I could spit nails! It's been 5 months since I ordered my gown and veil and headpiece and the little jacket for my wedding, I know I'm feeling like a bridezilla but it's wrong what that salon is doing, I guess they don't care about business otherwise they would not be that cold, at least that manager was such a cold b- t-h! I was told my dress wouldn't come in until the end of February, UNREAL!! the thing about it I work in a bridal shop not this one, thank God! I worked in one for 12 years and I know Mori Lee has their gowns in stock, the longest they might take is a month, this shop first lied about my wear date then they tell me they get the dresses in about 6 weeks before the wear date, what the H is that? sorry just so mad! When the manger called me back to tell me what the statistic of my gown and she said when it should be at the shop I ask her to call me when it comes in and I told her I wanted to come pick it up, CONT.

When it comes in and she like paused and was speechless, I told her I'm gonna take it out of the shop, I will just take it to my colleague that I use to work in her shop and she can do alteration for me, I would rather go the extra miles as her shop is about 35 miles from my house but at least I will know my gown is safe. Thanks ladies for listening and please give me your opinions. Vent over!

This should of never happen ordering a Mori Lee gown, they keep their gowns in stock, they are one of the very few that does that, plus the sales clerk put a fake wear date for my wedding dress, so I feel that they lied to me either way it should be here within a 10 days to two weeks and I will take the gown out of the shop and know it will be safe, it was paid for in full at time that I ordered it along with the veil, headpiece and jacket also

My dress hasn't come in yet either, they said the middle of March. You still have time, hopefully it comes in soon!

What always gets me is when people lie to me - so I totally understand what you're saying. Also, of all the vendors we dealt with, the bridal store was the only one I had problems with, and the only one that lied to me. As in, blatantly lied. So... good for you for not giving them any more business, and thank goodness you have enough time!

I decided not to order from one shop because they said that they don't order the gowns to come in until a MONTH before the wedding date. This was a Maggie Sottero gown. My wedding date is 13 months away, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna wait a YEAR to see it. I went to another shop, picked out another gown, and was told that it takes 16 weeks if the dress has to be made. If it's in stock, 3 weeks (David Tutera for Mon Cheri). And I get to take it home with me as long as it's paid off. I plan on paying for my dress in full when I order it in a couple of weeks. I don't mind having it hang in the bag in my closet. I'd rather have it in my possession than worry about a shop losing it, forgetting to order it, or holding it hostage.

Jackie that's terrible, being lied to is no fun. I ordered my gown in July and called in December to check, that's when they told me it would be here mid March, and I was like um no, my wedding is in March. They couldn't expedite the order because it was already place, so we expedited the shipping. I picked it up about a week ago but forgot my veil. I went back for the veil yesterday and they gave me one I wasn't sure was mine but they seemed sure. Go figure I get a call today that "I took the wrong veil, and the one I took looks nothing like my veil." Um I haven't seen the thing since July and your employee handed it to me. It's not my fault you had to Jessica's coming to pick up veils and didn't label them properly!

Not cool at all. When I went to order my dress the boutique called Allure directly and got an approximate arrival time, and the owner let me hear the entire conversation. I ordered my dress in November and am not getting it until May. Anyway, back to you, that is not right and they should not have lied to you. I would march over there and demand a discount or something to make up for what they did. And even after the discount I would give them a piece of my mind! wait, maybe I would do that after my dress arrived, they would probably do something to it after telling them I will be getting alterations elsewhere.

Thank you ladies, I feel better, I will tell you I worked for a bridal shop and things did happen like a dress getting stuck in customs once and I went to call them and give them a piece of my mind since I had an angry bride in the salon but I will say that this kind of thing didn't happen in the shop I worked in and we was never to lie to the customer, all I can say I'm pulling my dress out of there when it comes in and going to the shop where I use to work to have it altered, I would rather give her the money than this people and yes I should have ordered my dress there but shop is in Indiana and I live in the Chicago area Illinois

Hi Ladies, well I have an update on my dress, first I will be having the shop where I worked at doing the alterations for me instead of the shop where I bought the dress, come to find out because I made a stink about where my dress was I found out that they had just ordered it now and it will be in any where from February 22-28, my jaw dropped on that one and that I had paid for my dress and veil, headpiece and jacket in full at the time I ordered it and since they did not order it until recently they used my money towards something else that needed to be done in their shop back in October, that's when my jaw really did drop!!!!!! unbelievable!!!! what a way to do business....they will get a bad review from me!

I've always heard 4-6 months for a wedding dress. I ordered mine in December and they told me April.

That's awful that they just now ordered. That's a serious dropping of the ball and completely wrong.

Why did you go to a competitor (?) for your dress? I'm just curious.

I had gone to a few bridal salons but I loved the dress in this shop and yes I should of just ordered the dress through the shop I use to work in but that shop is in Indiana and I live now over the border in Illinois, but it's worth the drive to get my alterations done and to know my dress is safe, and yes a lot of designers it can take 4-6 months but NOT Mori Lee, they always carry those in stock so ladies heads up beware, not to start anything but I worked over 12 years for a bridal shop

I totally understand where you are coming from...and the headache is no fun! I ordered my gown at the beginning of October and was told 10-14 weeks, plus 2 weeks for shipping between mfg and salon, and then to me. Well, that would have put it at the end of January. When I called, they said mid-February. I also had them change the delivery address since I am moving. Their staff has been incredibly unhelpful, bordering on incompetent, every time I call. I am having nightmares that the dress gets delivered to my house after I move and I am never able to track it down.

I ordered my Mori Lee dress back Sept/Oct-ish and my bridal salon told me it takes about 6 months. But, they said my gown should be in around the end of Feb, beginning of March.

OK....WOW! They JUST ordered your dress and you paid for it in OCT!!? WTF! NOT COOL!

Ugh yea, my first thought was they normally say 5-7 months for a dress to come in, but if Mori lee keeps them in stock, that's ridiculous. Good thing you called them!! I mean it's insane that they waited and spent your money on something else. Honestly, if it was me, I would have demanded a refund and bought it through someone else. I wouldnt trust them. And I would report them to the Better Business Beaureu as well as review them online. They are doing shady things!

Wow I would be pissed. I agree with Jamie, you should report them.

Also, I know how you feel. Not about my own dress but my poor bridesmaids didn't get their dresses until 10 days before the wedding. We were sweating they weren't going to come in on time. Turns out the salon sat on the order to long and it delayed their arrival

Holding your money and NOT ordering a gown. MMM...sound like a potential BBB complaint to me.

I can't help but wonder. Why couldn't your order your gown thru your own shop?
