Where did you spend your wedding night?

Corinne_, on August 4, 2015 at 1:49 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

Our venue is less than a 10min drive from our home. Several people told us that we should spend our wedding night in a hotel, since it makes it 'more special'. There's a pretty fancy one close by that has room rates starting at $250. I just feel like that's money that could be spent better somewhere else, besides the fact that I just sleep better at home.

What did you do? If you stayed at home, did you do something special? I was thinking about paying somebody to clean our house during the day and buying new linen that we would use the first time that night.

Face down on my couch. We transitioned into bed middle of the night.

We had our house cleaned instead, cost half of what a hotel room would cost.

Woke up, with all our stuff, took showers, went to brunch - it was glorious.

We are getting married at a hotel, and our suite is included in the price. If it wasn't, I doubt we'd stay at a hotel since our venue is only 10 minutes away.

Our venue is a B&B so we will be staying there for the night.

As long as I don't end up hugging a toilet, I think it will be a success. Sleep where you know you will be most comfortable, you have the honeymoon to worry about those "special" nights Smiley winking

We stayed in a hotel. I didn't bother paying for an expensive room, but when we showed up in our wedding attire, they upgraded us to a suite, which was really nice.

We had an after party and stayed at a hotel within a sort cab ride from the after party. Sadly there were no "nice hotels" within any reasonable distance. Otherwise we probable would have stayed at home. We had our honeymoon to stay somewhere special.

We are staying at a hotel. Mostly because the only other option is my parents house, in my childhood room... Sooo I figured we would get a hotel Smiley smile

At home with DH-- I don't sleep well in a strange bed, and I really wanted to be with him.

Our hotel gives us a free suite, since we blocked rooms at their hotel. Free breakfast the following morning. Also, everyone who stays at hotel will get a coupon for a free champagne toast when we come back to hotel after reception is over.

The 14 year old in me wants to say "under my husband". We'll be staying at the hotel we have our block at. They're giving us a free shuttle from the reception, a free suite with hot tub and bottle of champagne. Otherwise we would've gone home.

We are doing a hotel, we never get to do anything fancy in our own city so this seemed like the perfect time!

I had badly burned my arm steaming my dress, don't ask!

so I spent the wedding night in bed asleep, I got brought my coffee in bed, had a leisurely breakfast, and once hubby got home from work we went out some for ice cream and burgers.

he had been laid off and was working a season job at a place where there busiest day of the year is Halloween- our wedding day. so he had just the day off- not the idea situation, but it worked out fine Smiley smile

Early yet to make a solid decision, but I think my FH wants to go away for a night or three so we can have some alone time w/out the kids. So a hotel may be in order for our wedding night.

We stayed at the hotel where we had our room blocks, and I'm glad we did! It was great to have a place away from the clutter and normalcy of our home, plus on the practical side- we didn't have to worry about collecting/packing up all our stuff (card box, suits, my dress, bouquet, etc etc I couldn't believe how much stuff lol) until the next day.

ETA: our room was comp'd by the hotel as part of our room block and rates in our block were only $99/night- we would not have spent $250.
