Where did you spend your wedding night?

Our venue is less than a 10min drive from our home. Several people told us that we should spend our wedding night in a hotel, since it makes it 'more special'. There's a pretty fancy one close by that has room rates starting at $250. I just feel like that's money that could be spent better somewhere...

What did you do? If you stayed at home, did you do something special? I was thinking about paying somebody to clean our house during the day and buying new linen that we would use the first time that night.

We just stayed at home. I couldn't justify spending the money for a hotel, plus that was just more stuff I would have had to pack. No thanks.

My venue is in the middle of nowhere, the closest hotels are in Houston. I think we'll just go home and sleep there. I must add our venue is like a hour drive already. Driving to a hotel at like midnight? No thank you

We were going to sleep at home, as we live 15 minutes from our venue. However my mom booked a room for the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding for us. She first only booked for the night of the wedding, because she didn't want us worrying about how to get home or to call a cab or something since we will be drinking. A good amount of our friends are staying at the hotel too (it is on site of our venue) so I think it will turn into an after party, we have the honeymoon for our private time. I am also happy she booked the same room for the night of the rehearsal so that we can get ready there the morning of, as my venue doesn't have a bridal suite (just some old locker rooms for the golfers). But if my mom hadn't paid for it, we would have just caught a ride back to the house.

We got married in our hometown but we don't live there so we didn't have the option to stay home. We sprung for a really nice hotel and got upgraded to a suite with an amazing view. It was so nice.

There is a Comfort Suites right by our venue so we are staying there Smiley smile Nothing fancy, but our favorite breakfast place is next door and it would feel weird spending our wedding night in the house with my 20 year old son LOL

We are staying at a hotel. We are getting married far from where we live so the other option was spending the night at my parents in my old room.

This all makes me feel less awkward for wanting to just stay home Smiley smile
