Where did you get your mens dress shirt/accessories?

Yam, on August 20, 2019 at 10:07 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21
FH is totally balking at the price of a $50 shirt. I told him get whatever he wants but he never wants to spend money on himself! He threw down $$$ for my dress but a $50 shirt is too much? Anyways in order to make him feel better about his purchase I agreed to at least try to find cheaper shirts that were still good quality.

Any pearls of wisdom, guys? Is there some secret dude store I’m not aware of?

That's a really not a bad price for a dress shirt. Any cheaper and he is going to sacrifice quality. Depending on his size, H&M has really nice dress shirts

Tell me about it! But I agreed to look anyway, maybe there’s a sale going on somewhere.

Mine wore a white shirt he already owned, but the week after, forgot to pack a white shirt for his cousin's wedding! So he had to run to the store to get one. He got a nice white shirt from Kohl's on sale for like $25. He's not a spender and usually gets thrown off by prices (he'd rather keep what he has and use it til its ratty than spend) but he had to admit it was a good deal. JCpenney almost always has coupons online, which you can show on your phone at the register. They're one of my favorite stores for getting a good deal!

I should add, we went to Marshall's for his shoes! Again, he's not a spender and it's like pulling teeth to get him to buy things for himself. If Marshall's didn't work, my plan was to try tj maxx and then dsw.

I’ll check those out! It’s weird he wants to spend $100+ for shoes because he’ll “actually wear those” but not a nice dress shirt even if he wears dress shirts...but he doesn’t have one in the color he needs.

I go to Marshalls all the time for shampoo and perfume and he’s never bought ANYTHING there! He’s trying on shirts there at least! If he wants to save money on his shirt so badly he’s trying on shirts lol

We bought nicer shirts (with french cuffs for cuff links) at Macy's for the groom & FOB, but got the GMs' shirts during the Father's Day sale at Kohl's and with the sale & various coupons/discounts we ended up spending about $6 per shirt and they looked great under the guys' suits. (I think they were on sale for $10, but then we had a 30% off coupon and a couple of $10 off coupons...NEVER shop full-price at Kohl's!) With your time frame, I'd watch all the back-to-school sales. Dress shirts aren't as common a focus, but you might still find a really good deal and coupons will be plentiful at lots of retailers this time of year.

That’s a great deal!! I didn’t even think of those sales, you might be on to something there. He’s short so he fits into teen sizes, might be able to snag a back to school deal on that.

We spent $75 on my fiance's dress shirt at men's warehouse, then another $15 to tailor it. His tie was from tiebar, socks & lapel pin from Amazon.

Other than look for sales and have a coupon, $50 is not a bad price. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you might want to get 2 shirts. If it is a hot day or your FH is prone to sweating like mine is, he may want to change into a fresh shirt after or before ceremony/pictures.

Jos. A Banks does a 3/$99 sale often! That where we bought H's shirt and all of the shirts for his guys. H is pretty high maintenance though, most of his shirts are from Brooks Brothers. He definitely doesn't mind spending money on clothes lol.

That’s a good idea! He’ll live lol. He’s not pairing a bad quality shirt with his nice suit so I’m going to hunt for coupons for him.

That’s a great deal! FH will spend a ton of money on shoes but never shirts, I have no idea why.

Men's Wearhouse is having a sale right now for their anniversary. Macy's has sales all the time and with a Macy's credit card you may have extra discounts. I also use the app Shopular to find deals.

I just received the latest Kohl's ad. For a sale beginning tomorrow, they have a few different dress shirts on sale (Apt 9 & Van Heusen brands). The code for the 30% off coupon is "Sale30" and $10 "Kohl's Cash" for every $50 spent is a given. I don't have a free home delivery code, but if you order to the store you don't pay for delivery. Good luck!
