When To Take Engagement Pictures

We took ours at the end of June ... our wedding is Oct 22 ... but my photographer told me they typically take engagement photos 2 months prior...however, I have a friend that is getting married this Sept and she took her engagement photos last Sept...so I think it really doesn't matter when. Some people like to get them early, so they can include a nice picture in their save the date

We are taking them at the end of the month. Wedding is May 2012. 9 Months prior. This is common in my circle of friends.

I don't think there is really a 'too early' time for engagement pics. I mean it's usually sometime after you become 'engaged', and while you are 'engaged' hence the word 'engagement'

I say its totally up to you. You can definitely take them early for the save the dates.

We ended up taking 3 sets (1 from JCP when we first got engaged, 1 set we won from a bridal show, and 1 set came with our package from the photographer)

So we have 3 different looks and they are great! We will be doing a photo display table at the entrance of the reception.

Take them now and go for it!!! Have fun!

We are getting them on Labor Day, so about eight months out. We've been engaged since February 1st of last year. I'm glad we've waited, but that's just us. I thin you can get them anytime during your engagement.

We're planning on taking them this fall - we're getting married next Spring/Summer. I think it all depends on when you want them available... if you want to incoorporate them in your save the dates you may want to take them now :o)

We did ours 7 months in advance. My photographer said she usually does them 12 to 6 months before the wedding. I wouldn't want to spend a lot on e-pics and then before I can enjoy them I am already paying for and hanging wedding pictures.

We are getting married Oct 2012 and just took ours... I need to check things off! Since we are getting married out of town I also want to get our STD's done

You can take them whenever you want!!! I think the most important factor is where you want them (i.e. if you want fall leaves, spring flowers, green summer grass, snowy wonderland . We took ours in May and get married in October. Have fun!!!

We are doing ours a year out! We have a 2 year engagement and we wanted to get summer engagement pictures taken plus we wanted plenty of time to get the pictures back so we would be able to use them for our save the dates which we will probably send out in February. I don't think there is a "right" time to get them done!

We just moved back to his hometown in Texas, and it is really hot here!!! I don't want to be all sweaty-looking, so we are waiting until fall. Plus he says that it is beautiful here in the fall.

I took mines in May, 7 months before the wedding and we're taking some additional ones this month (4months away), so you're fine with your plan

I want to do mine in the next month or so, before the fireweed goes to seed... need to get on finding the perfect photographer!

We took ours over a year in advance! But only b/c I won a free engagement session at a bridal show

We are having a DW and we wanted to use our E-shoot photos for the STD and website so we took ours in June although we are not getting married until next July. I think it just depends though. If you need to send out your STD's early and you want to use your photo, you might have to take them early.

We are taking our pictures late as we had trouble finding a photographer so we will be taking those pictures September 6. We have taken some enagement pictures before with a friend but a lot of those did not come out good.

We are having ours done in December, and the photographer even offered to take a family x-mas shot! Our wedding date is 3/3/12..
