One of the popular things that brides on the forum mention regretting is buying the dress way too early that they aren’t in love with and trying to sell it at full price to pay for a new one. You can start looking now but don’t purchase until 10 months out. Make sure you absolutely do not want to take the dress off before you spend money.

I totally agree with the 10 months away idea. You don't wanna get a dress too early & in the end you don't like it or want something different. Just start getting an idea of what you want now & maybe you can start looking right after the new yew.

I would say maybe give it about 4-6 months before the big day? Just make sure to also consider the time frame of getting it altered if need be. Depending on where you get it done and what needs to be done you could be looking at 2 weeks to possibly a whole month. A friend of mine had to get hers altered twice because she was losing as much weight as she could before her wedding.

Most designers take 6-8 months to get a dress in . If you want to go the davids bridal work its faster because of how and where they are made.

So, dress regret is real, but so are covid-related supply chain issues and alterations that take quite a while.

Many dresses are available to come in within 6 months, but for some it's 12, and I'd hate to end up being limited by shopping too late, when I had the time.

If you are a decisive person, there's nothing wrong with shopping early. I bought my dress 15 months out, and then we had to delay for another 6. I still love it. I was also told I'd need 3 months for my alterations, so I'm glad I started early.

I personally got my dress like over a year away. But, I’m also not picky. When I did pick up my dress, I ended up liking a different one, so I got it exchanged. I love this one so much more because it showcases my shoulders, bis, tris, and lats really well. I’ve worked too hard bulking for a year and lifting heavy AF not to show off all that muscle 🤣 (My mom initially wanted a more conservative dress so I changed it behind her back and didn’t tell her after I got it 😬)

My wedding is October 1st 2022 and I am going dress shopping this coming week. My FMI called me last week and said that she saw on the TV that the wedding gowns will go into shortage. I don’t know if it’s true or not but I will go ahead and secure mine. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Haha, I must ask - does she know now, or will she find out on the day? But go you - I wanted Michelle Obama arms for my wedding and I do a little workout every day, but it is HARD and they're not there yet!

Thank you 😊 so much for recommendation I heard some bridal stores are in back order and takes about 3-6 month for the dress to come in, I think I shall secure my dress ahead of time and of course make sure I'm absolutely in love with it!

I don't tend to be picky but of course it's my wedding dress has to be beautiful, I'm just so excited to get started it still doesn't feel real that we are actually having our wedding(:

I was very excited to get started too! I didn't expect to buy first trip necessarily, but when you find the one, why keep looking, you know?

I had a very strong image of what I've always wanted, and I likewise had a really good idea of what would suit me. I went in being open to other silhouettes and styles and certainly tried them on, but it was a surprise to no one when I bought the dress I did, to be honest.
If that's you, then it won't matter when you start to look, IMO.

I had to do at least 1 year of bulking to get them to grow. (eating more than I burn while lifting as heavy as I can). I kind of want to do another cycle to grow them a bit more before the wedding, but I’m scared I’m not going to be able to cut the fat before the wedding haha. Also, wedding dresses are apparently not made for people who lift because it’s so tight around the lats then loose around the waist and I don’t even have boobs LOL! She knows now. I showed her my flexing arms in the wedding dress after I got it 🤣

HAHA! I love it. I was thinking it might be very stressful if she only found out on the day. I bet you're going to look fabulous. I found a similar thing with my boobs when I was doing chest fly type things - they sat up a lot higher than would comfortably sit in a bra.

I'd probably start looking now. I was told when I started looking for my Oct 22 wedding to try and look 10-12 months instead of the normal 6-8. I ended up getting mine waaaaay early because I didn't actually expect to find a dress at my first real appointment. My seamstress is going to start my alterations in June (she is like the best in our area so she's crazy booked already), so had I waited to get my dress I would've had a tighter timeline with alterations.

I was with a lot of anxiety about my wedding but since she said that to me lol, I am in a fully panic attack mode. All the stuff I want for my wedding it’s out of stock or low in stock 😪😢🥺, I hope I can find my dress, I am picky but at the same time I will probably be flexible about it because I will have a second dress for the reception because my wedding will fully be outside/garden/backyard and I will not able to walk all night with a huge wedding dress. Hope you can also find what you’re looking for - Best wishes 💋
