Go ahead and start now. You can look for stuff on sale and figure out what to buy a little at a time. I have almost everything for my September wedding just because I found so much I needed on sale. It never hurts to start looking early!

First have your venue and know what style of wedding you are going to have. Know your colors. Then get some pics
of what you like and determine what you actually want and what will work in the space. Once you do that go shopping. Just be careful and stick to alist as it’s easy to get in a store and see so many other things that would
look good or go with what you are doing. You can blow your budget quickly.

If you know what you are looking for, there are great after Christmas sales on already.

I think you can start looking now! Just start gathering little by little or even just start browsing around for the best prices, exactly what you want, etc. Muriel is right! Christmas has lots of gold and silver decor on sale right now ! Good luck!

I did a little at a time. With everything from gifts to decor to payments. I did a little each month then took a little time off and started again. Thank the good Lord I did. I saved money with sales and shopping around and wasn't as stressed as the day came closer.

If you plan on hiring a florist, decorator, planner or any kind of event rentals, remember that you may be able to rent a lot of decor through those vendors as well. Otherwise, once you have a definite plan for what kind of colors and feel you want your wedding to have, just keep an eye out and start picking up decor items here and there. Since you have several months before the wedding, you have plenty of time to shop around and order items as needed. As others have said, I’m seeinf a lot of metallic accent stuff go on sale post-Christmas!

I started gathering items in January for an October wedding. As we had a little extra money, we’d order something. We found it easier then waiting until the last minute and buying it all at once. Plus as others said, depending on what you’re looking for, you’ll get some good end of season sales.

First I just want to point out not all of us on here are brides. Once you have decided on your colors, theme, etc you can start purchasing. I would definitely start now if your Wedding is in August.

I've already started and my wedding is a week after yours. But I'm making all the centerpieces and decorations so I want a lot of time to work on it. I think as long as you have a spot to put it you can start now if you want.

I would always look. My wedding is also in August and we made a bunch of purchases already, such as mason jars for the centerpieces, some silk flowers, an arch, and a chest for a card box.

When you start finding pieces that you’d like to use. I bought my cake topper within a couple weeks of being engaged, because I found the one we wanted.

Of course you can begin. I think you want to make your decision final if you will be purchasing these items. Your mind can change alot between now and then. My wedding is a week after yours and i've already booked my florist who will be doing my flowers (centerpieces). We have a basic ideas but nothing will be finalized until about 2-3 months prior to the wedding. I have to book linen rentals and such in the next few months. Pick your colors, look at inspo so you can know what to purchase and price it all out. Sometimes the labor of buying all these items, storing them, then having someone sit them out for you (hopefully a day of coordinator) is a task within itself. You will want to itemize a list of what you need versus what your venue provides (if any). Sometimes people buy too many objects or DIY projects without a clear vision and are stuck with them when the wedding comes.

My wedding is Aug 10, I have been picking up little things here and there on sale for awhile now. I am having a DW so I didn’t go crazy because I have to have everything packaged and sent to the location but have at it if you see something you like. What’s on the shelf now may be gone next season.

My wedding is 12/1/18 and I started buying things awhile ago. When I see things on sale, I get them. I also figured it is easier to buy things one at a time while on sale versus splurging and getting everything at once. I have found fb group sales to be amazing and have gotten a lot of lightly used decor for very cheap.

I started looking for centerpiece supplies as soon as daughter was engaged. I was able to buy LED candles from another bride who had just had her wedding. I'm collecting the glass cylinders when they are 50% off. I also bought ribbon at 50% off, and will do so again.

Check CVlinens, save on crafts, oriental trading and amazon. they should all be having end of year sales.

Hey there, BTB (bride to be)! It’s never to late to start! I’ve been engaged for a while and have been buying stuff all along. But I did wait until I knew my exact colors/theme to start buying. My wedding is in August too! Are you having an indoor or outdoor wedding?
