When is best to have a Florida beach wedding?

Private User, on June 22, 2016 at 10:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 26

My bf and I are wanting to do a destination wedding, and I'm considering Florida's emerald coast, probably Destin. We are from Pennsylvania. my question is, when is the best time of year to have a beach wedding in Florida? I want it to be warm enough to enjoy the beach, but not too cold or too hot and humid and miserable. I am currently thinking late fall or spring time.. not quite sure..

Also any recommendations on places to have to the wedding (resorts, hotels, wedding vendors, etc..)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Get wedding insurance. You'll need it for a FL beach wedding, especially during hurricane season. It's hot and humid year-round in FL. You should get a nice breeze off the beach in October - March. Not sure about water temps in Destin, but I've been swimming up and down the FL coast in every month, including January and February, depending on the year.

I live in FWB; next to Destin and would suggest a fall or spring wedding. The summer temperatures are tough for outdoor events. Would love to help in any way I can. Smiley smile

Alicia C, where are you having the wedding at, and are you planning your wedding through any vendors?

Where are you staying at, and your guests? Just wondering, trying to get some ideas!

Our wedding is in Ponte Vedra Beach (between St Augustine and Jacksonville) in November. Weather was pretty much the #1 deciding factor for us for a date. It won't be miserably hot, but it won't be super cold either. Average temps in Nov. are in the 70's. Chance of rain is extremely low, and not much humidity.

@Bridget, there's ALWAYS humidity, especially close to the water.

April or May have good weather, but it can get rainy. Late October and anytime in November I've found are the best months here. I hear Destin is beautiful, but I haven't been there so wouldn't be much help on recommendations in the area.

Im going to say late march early april... Of course you cant get an accurate weather forecast until 15 minutes before your wedding (hello is FL) haha but be prepared to have a Plan B for any rain

Never. It's always hot, disgusting, and muggy. And when it is 70 degrees, the beaches are overly crowded with snow birds.

Do yourself a favor, and don't get married in Florida on the beach. Remember: hurricane season is June 1-November 30. December, it's stillll hot. If you were to add up all of the days under 70 during "winter" here, those number of days might add up to two weeks. (Not two weeks straight. Adding them up over the months of like .. Jan - March)

Cape San Blas is amazing. My sister had her beach on the wedding there and it was breathtaking.

We're having a church ceremony and an inside reception across from the beach. The plan is to do pictures on the beach but we have a plan B. ETA: a beach wedding is totally possible though. I live in south west FL and have TONS of friends that get married on the beach. My reception venue was actually shocked we weren't doing a beach ceremony. I'm about an hour and a half south of Tampa so...

I would recommend Spring. Since Destin is North (i think), it does cool down for winter. It should be perfect around Feb-April for a beach wedding. Dont forget rain. It's always raining in Fla. I would not do anything close to hurricane season (Jun-Nov).

    ETA: spelling

We're going the same thing as Katherine (church ceremony/indoor reception near the beach) in Fort Lauderdale. I lived down there for a long time (20+ years), and November is pretty safe re: hurricanes, but there's always a chance of rain, so better to be safe than sorry. I would say November - March is best.

Destin would be beautiful. Spring and fall can get a bit chilly but it will probably be great as long as you avoid late November thru Feb. We got married in March and it was mid 70's day and night.

October until March are our best months, but can still be very hot. I picked January as it is usually not humid or rainy. We picked our venue based on the view and the ceremony came with it. We are fine with moving inside if we have to. If it is too cold or hot we aren't going to make our guests suffer through it. We will for pictures though, unless it is raining.

Destin is a bit cooler and beautiful! I don't know any venues but if you are looking in the St. Pete Beach area I looked at most of them.

We are renting a beach house in Mirimar Beach, which is where we will hold the reception. It's a small wedding, which is what we wanted. Loughtide Wedding is our planner and they're literally amazing. They're doing the wedding on the beach and the reception for us. We are using a food truck to cater (Big Red Truck) and Amber Fletcher is our photographer. They've all been so helpful and reasonably priced. If you have any other questions or anything I can help with...message me on FB. Alicia Van Lierop Smiley smile Happy planning. Destin is so gorgeous, I'm stoked!!!
