My bf and I are wanting to do a destination wedding, and I'm considering Florida's emerald coast, probably Destin. We are from Pennsylvania. my question is, when is the best time of year to have a beach wedding in Florida? I want it to be warm enough to enjoy the beach, but not too cold or too hot...

My bf and I are wanting to do a destination wedding, and I'm considering Florida's emerald coast, probably Destin. We are from Pennsylvania. my question is, when is the best time of year to have a beach wedding in Florida? I want it to be warm enough to enjoy the beach, but not too cold or too hot and humid and miserable. I am currently thinking late fall or spring time.. not quite sure..

Also any recommendations on places to have to the wedding (resorts, hotels, wedding vendors, etc..)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Side note -we are renting a house for the week, most of our guests are staying there (It sleeps 30 and has a guest house and main house, it's on the beach). Bc it isnt their "season", we got an AWESOME rate. We're recommending two hotels for some of the guest who won't be in the house. Quality Inn in Destin, they had awesome rates and then Embassy Suites in Destin. It's nice to have options.

My best friend was married in Destin at a beautiful resort... I want to say it was called the Grande? She got married overlooking the ocean and had her pictures on this gorgeous sand bar 5 minutes off of the coast. Her wedding was May 5th and aside from being a bit windy, it was absolutely perfect! The white sand beaches are just ridiculously gorgeous!

OP I would definitely do spring or fall. DH & I just got married at the beginning of May, while the temperature was mid to upper 60's the winds made it seem cold. The water was absolutely stunning but taking photos on the beach nearly killed me I was frozen! The weather is always tricky there. Our wedding was on Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach, neighboring Destin. It was a very small wedding & we were able to use a meeting room at the condo's where we stayed along with our guests. I found my vendors here on WW & was truly lucky that my officiant & photographer were a team & my dream became reality.

I grew up spending my summers there, my Mother was born & raised in the area so I'm very partial to Destin area beaches. Good luck!

For 35 years, I've lived about an hour south of Tampa and for the past 25 years, I've officiated many beach weddings here.

Yes, turtle nesting/hatching season runs 5/1-10/31 -- which just means you can't have lights on the beach after dark.

Hurricane season runs 6/1-11/30, but we fortunately have not had a direct hit since the '60s. I had a beach wedding the day after TS Colin came through -- it was beautiful.

I schedule the ceremonies for 30-45 minutes before sunset -- it's cooler then, the lighting is beautiful for pics, there is less chance of rain, and the beaches are less crowded.

But, I do require my couples to have a Plan B -- lightning is nothing to take lightly.

DH & I got married in Oct. -- when it was a bit cooler and bit less humid.

I recommend Spring or Fall, but it can be any month. Since you live in PA, you won't think our Winter temps are very cold.
