When do you tip the shuttle driver?

Kristy, on March 15, 2019 at 3:09 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

Maybe this is a silly question... I know to tip him/her 15%-20%, but I'm not sure when to physically hand over the cash. They're picking up my guests at 5pm, stopping at another hotel next to the venue and bringing everyone to the venue by 6. Then at 10:30 they're picking everyone up and taking them back to their hotels. Should I have someone hand him/her the tip as they arrive to the venue with my guests? Or wait until they pick everyone up at the end of the night? FH and I won't be taking the shuttle.

I want to make sure I do it at the right time because if they're expecting a tip early and don't get it, they may not be in a great mood for the ride home. I know I'm probably overthinking this, but when is the right time to do it?

At the end of the night, when his job is complete. We paid our guy when he dropped us off at the end.

I would wait until the end of the night and give the money to your parents or someone in the bridal party who will be taking it to hand to him/her and just have them tell him/her its from the bride and groom so he/she isint confused lol.

Perfect, thank you! I think that makes sense. I just would hate for them to think they aren't getting tipped because I'm not in the shuttle at the end of the night. Smiley winking

That makes sense. Thank you! Glad to know that's what is expected.

Gratuity for our shuttles was included in the cost.

If its not, at the end of the evening is fine. Not getting pre-tipped should not effect their behavior.

According to our Hotel Coordinator, she said that we should designate 2 people to be in charge of Tipping the Shuttle Drivers. The Tips should be given and handed directly to the drive when he picks up guest at the hotel for a 1 way drop off at the Venue and another Tip should be given to the driver picking up from the Venue back to Hotel. She said that a lot of times you will not have the same driver for both ways and by doing the Tipping this way assures the Driver or Drivers get their tip.
