When do you invite guests to rehearsal dinner or brunch morning after?

jcdb, on July 13, 2018 at 4:36 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10
I am getting ready to start getting my invitations ready to be sent. Should we include a slip for those invited to the rehearsal dinner or the brunch we will be having the morning after? If not, when should we be sending those out?

I think you're supposed to send wedding invitations alone and then other invites go out afterwards a few weeks before.

We plan to send our invites out end of November and our rehearsal dinner invites out in December about 5 weeks before the event.

We had a welcome dinner and a farewell brunch and just invited everyone by word of mouth. Also, since everyone was invited, we included it on our website. You don't have to send formal invitations to these events, but if you do, usually you send them out after the wedding invitations have been sent.

I'm doing formal invites also. Word of mouth works but if not everyone is included than make sure those who should be there know. My FBIL had many people confused as to if they should be there or not.

I'm not sure of the timing but we sent out separate welcome dinner invites about 4 weeks before. It felt tight, but it worked out.

As a guest I've been invited to additional activities in the same formal invitation, but the entire guest list was invited to all events.

We’re including a details card with our invites that has info for the extra events. I think it’s important to include if you have a lot of guests coming from out of town.

I sent the rehearsal dinner invite in the envelope with the wedding Invite. Didn’t really care if that was proper or not it just made the most sense to me and I wanted to make sure the groomsmen had adequate time and Info to know about it cause honestly they can never keep track of anything.. pretty sure some of them still can’t remember the date of the wedding

I feel like it would be easiest to send an insertion with the invitation suite. how are you getting rsvps/headcount for the brunch? My mom wants to have in idea of how much food to have because they're going to host it at their home....

Were not doing a brunch so I can’t really say what we’re dojng for that but for the brunch I might put that on your wedding website and ask for rsvps for anyone who’s interested? To call/text you or your mom. Or include an insert with info on brunch and ask for people to respond if they’re coming

That’s why I was thinking about including it in the invitation so that they could rsvp online with that if they chose to rsvp online or I can ask to email with that or something. It I going to be at a restraurant my FH worked at for more than a decade so we don’t need an exact count but something close. I haven’t made a definite list yet but I figure just about everyone at the rehearsal dinner would also be invited to the brunch so I was also thinking about doing a separate invitation in a few weeks about this two events separately.
I don’t really care about being proper but more just efficient and also giving everyone notice regarding travel plans, etc.

For rehearsal dinner I've always seen it done as work of mouth. I've also never been to a rehearsal dinner that has had for more than 20 people so it is easy to do word of mouth.

Most of the times for morning after brunch it is just an insert in the welcome bag we get when we arrive at the hotel.

The two most recent invitations I've gotten though have had a little line to RSVP to the wedding and then another one to RSVP to the brunch (for one and a pre wedding dinner for another). None of them have seemed out of place to me and just seemed what was best for each couple.
