When do you book the florist?

Hana, on December 16, 2015 at 11:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

How soon do people book florists? Our wedding is in September and I have no idea what kind of decorations/floral arrangements I want.. Should I have a general idea before booking one?? What kind of decorations do I need to consider if I am having both the ceremony & reception at a typical event/wedding venue? (The venue will supply all the linens for the reception.)

If you're getting married on a peak day (i.e. Saturday) I would book very soon so you're sure to get the florist you like best who is willing to work with whatever your budget is. We booked ours last month.

ETA: I would think about centerpieces if you want them, aisle decor, bouquets for you and your BP, boutonnieres, flowers for the MOB and MOG, FOB and FOG, altar decor, etc. All depends on what your budget will allow. It would be good to at least have an idea as to what you will want as far as personal flowers and decor so she can help you decide if it's within your budget. Good florists are great at throwing things together. Mine pulled some stems that I hadn't even considered that were less $$ than what I wanted originally and it took my breath away.

My coordinator recommended I book one immediately after I booked the venue, since their schedules fill up just the same.

Check out their work on Facebook and make sure you like what they've done in the past.

You don't have to have all the details figured out immediately. I just told them I wanted a romantic feel with my colors. We're scheduling a follow up closer to this way I have time to think about it more!

Hi, I scheduled a consultation with my florist for the end of February so we could go over colors and what they had available so I can pick out what I want. I will put in my deposit on that day as well. You should consider any kind of silverware, plates, napkins and cups. Good luck!

I will probably start to tackle this in Jan/Feb - my wedding is in November.

If you have your venue(s) booked & date set, it's not too early to book your florist. At some point, they'll want to know number of bouquets & centerpieces so they can give you a ballpark quote.

I'm getting married in August and we had our initial consultation and booked our florist over thanksgiving. We have a meeting in April to go more into the details. We aren't locked into our package until two weeks before the wedding when everything becomes final. They gave us a quote for what we want, but numbers, types of flowers, etc. are all still flexible at this point.

I don't think there is such thing as "too soon" when it comes to booking anything for a wedding in finding out!! I am hoping by the end of the month to go talk to our florist and order the flowers. We're just getting mine, his, parents, and grandparents I believe.

You can book as soon as you want. I planned my wedding in 8 months. I think we booked the florist a few months before.

Same date as you, I booked mine two months ago. Find one whose work you like and you feel connected with; they'll be able to work with you on your vision.

With my wedding being in 2017 should I be looking now as well?
