When do you ask people to be in your wedding party?

If you're certain about who you want then I say go for it.

We did it right around the 11-12 month mark. I could have waited, but friends were kind of asking us what the deal was.

Around 10-12 months before your wedding, and not a second sooner. Even if you know who you're going to ask, things change: your plans may change, you may change your mind about the size of the wedding party, your relationship with someone may change. There are SO MANY posts on here about bridesmaid regret. It's just not worth it. Plus, there's no reason to ask anyone any earlier. it's not like they'll be buying a dress that early or anything.

I did it right away. I was going to ask, but my FBIL proposed to his girlfriend and their wedding isn't even 3 months after ours. I did it because I had already asked her to be a bm, but 2 of my other bms are for sure going to be in her wedding too. I mostly did it so people could plan ahead.

I'd wait until this summer! Things do change. I knew without a doubt who my bridesmaids would be but still waited until I had my venue booked and a couple other things taken care of so they knew what they were committing to cost-wise!

I waited until we had our ceremony and reception venues secured which was right around a year mark before our wedding.

I asked about a month after we were engaged, but it was because it was my two closest girlfriends and after a few outings together I could tell they were kind of wondering when I'd ask since it was pretty obvious it was them, lol

I did mine early December 2014. We got engaged October 31, 2013 and are getting married October 3, 2015. I saw MANY posts on here about regretting bridesmaid choices even though they have known each other for years, so I waited until later. And we really didn't do anything Bridesmaid-y until the last 3 weeks when we looked at dresses.

I asked right before our engagement party. So 1 year out, I still like them all so that is good

The subject had already come up with each of them, so they knew, but we officially asked 6 months before.

I asked about two months into our engagement but that's because I am 100% certain. All three of mine were easy picks with no doubt. My FW really is only set on one specific person and is only picking her other two based on how they'll match up with my side walking down the aisle.
