When did your parents meet your future in laws?

Just curious if people made a big to do about this and had them meet long before the wedding or at reception dinner?

We have been dating for over three years and they met two years ago at a university football game. But since then, we had more formal meetings at Christmas dinners at our house.

For our son's wedding, we didn't meet his in-laws until the groom's dinner! It wasn't the most ideal, but it just didn't work out until then. The two families had fun getting to know each other!

It's really interesting to hear all the different stories! Thanks for sharing.

For the most part it seems to have gone well, which takes some of the edge off. I'm nervous bc FFIL is very slow paced kind of life where as my parents are like energizer bunnies from dawn til dusk. It'll be an interesting few days of vacation together...

Our first high school dance we went to together. Which was like two weeks after we started dating.

Wow I never realized that I'm the weird one here. Our families met early in our relationship (7 years ago) and since have pretty much been at every social gathering together. I guess it helps that we all live within 30 minutes of each other.

They have yet to meet. I don't envision that happening until closer to the wedding date.

We live down the road from my parents but his dad and stepmom live 6 hours away. We meet them half way between our house and theirs once a year at the lake. They (for reasons unbeknownst to me) have never invited me and FH to stay with them and every time i have suggested it, they were too busy. Therefore my parents haven't been up to see them and they never come see us. Well finally they came in February to see our new house. So my parents met them then. They will see each other at the wedding and then at the hospital when we have a kid. Yeah his parents aren't very involved...

I am the mother of the bride my daughter got engaged in April we were happy and at first she, we had only met his brother then they got a place of their own and grooms mother stayed a few days with them, which I had no clue she was visiting until I had called to say I was going to stop by to drop something of my daughters that she had been asking for , anyway after an awkward 15 minute visit, I along with my son ( the brides little brother) left . Since then, I have been asking to meet more of his family, asking for help, with the wedding since it was dropped in my lap because she doesn't have time with her work schedule and his . I am at the point of pulling the plug on the whole thing and turning it into a late Anniversary party for me and my husband, since we paid for the entire thing and getting no help or input what so ever, not even the common courtesy of meeting his family before the wedding can be given to us !
