When did you get your rings saudered?

Colleen, on August 4, 2017 at 7:42 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

The jewelers said I should get my rings saudered before the wedding since it will hurt my engagement ring if they are not. I'm fine with this but then I was like there won't be any pictures of the rings separate and I kind of want that. My engagement ring is custom made so we had a custom wrap (band on both sides of e ring) made, in all honesty my wedding band looks odd without my engagement ring. Also I will be sending them in the beginning of September to get the saudered for my October wedding. I have 2 bridal showers in September (FH's family and my family live 2 hrs apart) so I won't have my ring for those, which isn't horrible but it still makes me think about it. I'm including pics of the wedding band with my engagement ring. I don't think I have one of just the wedding band.

Kay's told me it takes 2 weeks so plan for 3-4. We are doing it a little early since we aren't getting married where we live. We will both be leaving Wednesday the week of the wedding to go to my hometown.

DH bought my rings from Kay's as well. I had to be without the ring for about 2 1/2 weeks, and then I didn't get to wear it till the wedding, which I hated, but it was worth it to me. I didn't want to have to worry about it after the wedding.

Mine was done after our wedding. I had to wait 2 weeks for it to come back but it gave us an excuse to buy a cheapo ring to put in its place.

I'm probably taking mine in right after, and having it done while I'm on the honeymoon. I'm going out of the country, and didn't want to have it lost or stolen anyway, so it seems like a good time to get it done.

My jeweler told me it would usually take around 2 weeks, but she recommended doing it 4 weeks ahead just to be on the safe side. I was planning on taking it in early anyway because I'd rather be safe than sorry as well. I'd rather have it done prior to the wedding than after.

I didn't. I want the option to wear my band without my engagement ring. It's an emerald cut diamond and can be sharp. When we have children I probably won't wear it for a while.

I'm also not getting it done. I like the option of only wearing my band for vacations and such. I would hate to lose one but if I lost both at the same time that would be even more devastating.

Maybe I'm just a dope so excuse me if this a dumb question but why would it hurt you e-ring to not have it soldered?

It wouldn't hurt it right away but in the long run it would bc there is significant height to it compared to other rings I've seen and it will be metal on metal rubbing together. I originally didn't want it done.

I had bands soldered last week. The jeweler did it onsite and I took a couple hours.

I think you are fine to solder it before or after the wedding. I have to get my wrap 'fit' to my ering & ering dipped, so I'm doing the soldering at the same time (about a month before the wedding).

I didn't. I like to wear just my band while I golf and do certain activities. And my band is a little bigger so when we get pregnant and my fingers swell I can probably still wear my band.

I did not have my rings soldered and my wedding band has damaged my engagement ring. The diamonds on the band have rubbed against the prongs holding the center stone in my engagement ring. There are scratches and an indentation in the prongs now. You can't see it unless you look closely but I'll likely have to have the head replaced at some point.
