When did you get to see your flowers?

KellySD, on June 4, 2015 at 1:49 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 22

When did/do you get to see the first mockup of your flowers? Did you seem them in person, via photos, or just a sketch? How close to the wedding did/will you meet with your florist? Were you able to make changes if you wanted to?

I didn't ever see one actually. I showed her my inspirations and we went over the type of flowers I wanted in the bouquets. I didn't see them till the wedding day. I met the florist about 6 months before, when I booked her. And I was able to make changes until a month before.

I met with mine for the last "meet up" about a month before. After that no changes were allowed. We agreed on everything. At that time she didn't have flowers for me, but I had a unique centerpiece that was more than just flowers, so she had the rest of it made (minus the arrangement). I THOUGHT I was going to see one or two done and one or two bouquets the day before the wedding, but when I went to her shop (suggested by her) she had nothing done. She just showed me what flowers would be used. I was a little disappointed. because of the fact that my centerpiece was a little "different" that she had ever done, but I just trusted her and she fulfilled my vision 1000% better than I imagined she would.

I didn't know you could get mock-ups. Honestly, I just trusted the florist I worked with because I didn't have a perfectly set vision of what I wanted for flowers anyway. The first time I saw my flowers was hours before I walked down the aisle with them and they were beautiful. If I were offered a chance to see a mock-upped version for free, I'd do it, but if I had to pay, I wouldn't think it worth it at all.

I was able to make changes to my flower order until 2 weeks before the wedding.

I don't think mine will provide a mock-up. I trust her though. Although it makes me slightly nervous cuz I'm a control freak lol.

@Lucy - did you end up making any changes within that time period? If so, did you just email the florist with photos/ideas of what you were thinking?

@Allison - I'm glad it worked out! I'm just a little stressed about not being able to see at least one full centerpiece and/or bouquet beforehand, and when we met with him for a consultation we were under the impression that we'd get to see a mock-up before the wedding...

Kelly- you should ask him if it's included. If not see if it's in budget to get one. If neither of those are available, just make sure your extremely clear and have photos of what you like and don't like. And I just tried to remember this is their profession, they should do something beautiful.

Like Lucy said, we discussed flowers and colors I liked and she showed me a lot of types of flowers in catalogs. We do have a date to visit where she gets her flowers and I guess finalize the specific flower breeds I want? But I'm not expecting to see a mockup of a bouquet.

My mock up is scheduled for june 23 and a final meeting at the end of september. I can make changes at any point up to that september meeting.

Most florists I asked included a free sample after signing.

I don't think we're having a mock up. We'll see them for the first time when they're delivered!

I saw a mock up of my bouquet at a bridal show that my florist attended. she used it as a sample and then I got to take it home after the show, so I had it for about a week at home. This was back in January though

My mock-up was done even before we booked. My wedding is in August and the florist did a mock-up in February. She was great! She offered to do the mock-up as I didn't even know florist did that. I sent her a picture of what I was thinking ahead of time.

I'll be meeting with her briefly next month to give her the centerpiece vases - I'm providing because I found them so much cheaper on Etsy and it also cut her costs down.

I'm having mockups in July about a month and a half before my wedding. We are using a pretty large event business that also does catering and we are having an actual full menu tasting that day too. I think I can make changes to decor and food up to three weeks before the wedding.

I literally didn't see mine till the day of - haha. I realize saying this how nuts that sounds but we didn't have a ton of flowers and I knew what all the flowers would look like so I sort of left it at that. My bridal bouquet ended up looking slightly different than I had envisioned - but it was beautiful so I didn't sweat it

I got to see a mock-up the day before the wedding and I'm glad I did. My centerpieces were awful! We asked for a refund and my mom and aunt made centerpieces for the reception the night before. We only got the bouquets and boutinerres from the florist.

My contract includes an exact replica of my bouquet available 1-2 months before my wedding. It was suggested to get it to bring with me to a fitting so I can see how it looks with my dress and then modifications could be made if necessary.

Like NelsonsGirl, my florist created a mockup of the centerpieces and my bridal bouquet before I booked. He does it for all of his brides. I loved my samples so much

We saw it day-of when we got to the venue. I asked for very simple flowers though, all red roses, and sent her a picture of exactly what I had in mind. Honestly, she blew it out of the water.
