When did you actually start wedding planning?

Lynnie, on October 30, 2019 at 10:05 AM Posted in Planning 7 187

How soon after the proposal did you start wedding planning? Did you dive right in the next day? Did you wait a little while to just enjoy being engaged? Did you it take you awhile to get the ball rolling?

When did you start wedding planning?

We started planning about a month after - but we had been together for 5 years by then and also knew the date we wanted to get married before we even got engaged! We have a long engagement - almost 2.5 years - but we got everything booked pretty early on because I'm a huge planner and don't want to save things for the last minute. Can't wait for 10/10/20!

We were a little unconventional - started planning a couple months before the proposal! Smiley xd I would not recommend this for everyone, but it worked for us. We were very much on the same page about wanting to get married later in 2019, but knew that with Thanksgiving-Valentine's Day being a popular engagement season, we needed to get things booked before everyone getting engaged over the 2018 holidays. I had the church, reception, and photographer all booked a month before he proposed! I'm so glad we did some of the planning early, so our engagement only had to be about 9 months and we didn't have to wait until 2020. Smiley smile

I started wedding planning the same week I got engaged because I knew we wanted to get married the following spring (just under a year). I had almost everything booked within two months and we just changed our wedding date to February to accommodate a family member. Glad I started ASAP!

We started planning before we officially got engaged. Mostly just throwing around ideas at that point.

We got engaged in August of 2018 and while we talked about things here and there and tossed ideas around we didn't "officially" start planning until June of this year when we went to the open house of the venue that we ended up choosing. I personally didn't want to rush right into it and wanted to take time to enjoy being engaged.

Technically I started brainstorming in February when we officially got engaged in May, but I started seriously planning right away.

I started casually looking at venues the Monday after we got engaged, and we nailed down a date 2 week later, which is when I seriously began considering venues!

We started planning about a week after we got engaged. Set a date right away/ found a venue then started doing everything else

We got engaged in December 2018 but didn't begin any official planning until the end of June 2019. We knew it was going to be a longer engagement and had already had some daydreams of dates/venues before the proposal, so it wasn't a rush so much (work for me is usually really busy between April and the beginning of June, so I wanted to wait until after things calmed down).

Pretty much right away, our first step was choosing our date. I started looking at venues online after, and about a month after getting engaged we toured & booked our venue. We have almost all vendors booked and we're still over a year away but that's just my personality, I love to plan.

We (I) began planning almost immediately, and I don't regret it at all. We were engaged for a year and seven months before we were married, and I had the bulk of everything finished months before our wedding - which saved us a lot of headaches and stress.

We’ve started planning and we aren’t “officially” engaged yet—I have a very involved (for lack of a kinder word) family and, because of that, I want our engagement to be as short as possible so there’s as little room for opinions and interference as possible.

I’ve voiced this to my FW, so while we’ve told each other that we want to marry each other, we’re holding off on the actual rings until we can swing (financially and planning-wise) an engagement that’s a year or less. So we’re doing budgeting, guest lists, vendor research, and all the other planning we can do now so our actual engagement can be as quick as possible.

We waited a couple of days and then started researching stuff. I’d say a week or 2 after the engagement, and deciding on a budget, we started contacting venues and other vendors and the real planning began.

Literally the day after lol We were moving in a couple of weeks and I wanted to plan as much as possible with my mom and sister before leaving. We only wanted to be engaged for a year, so I needed to start right away!

We started planning about a year after we started dating. Throwing around ideas and things we would like. And I decided the day and month, it's just dependable on the year cause he wants me to finish school first. But it works for us.

We honestly started planning the next day. He had proposed in Tennessee and we live in Louisiana, so the entire ride home was about planning. We got everything planned and booked within the month. Our engagement will be almost 2 years.
