When did "the parents" meet?

My FH and I have been together for 3 years, but our parents have never met because mine are in GA and his are in IN and we live in OH. I'm pushing for it to happen sooner rather than later, I'm hoping it will help curb any potential wedding drama that could occur just because they don't know each other, and my parents are planning to visit in the next month which could be really convenient to try and plan some sort of get together.

That being said my FH thinks that we should just let them meet at the rehearsal dinner, and doesn't want to try and organize anything.

My FH's parents have both passed away (back in 09') his mom from stage 4 breast cancer, and about 4-5 months later his dad died from a broken heart. FH and I started dating in 2011', so I never got to meet this parents, which I am sad about. I've met his sister and brother, not that long after we started dating, they both took to me from the start. His sis and brother haven't met my parents yet, but hopefully sometime this summer FH and I plan on having a BBQ at our place and and inviting both sets of family so they can finally meet once and for all. Otherwise my parent s will meet his sis and bro at our wedding.

Based around my personal experience, try to get them to meet sooner rather than later. My Dad met my FH's parents two summers ago, but we had a hard time scheduling a day for my Mom to meet his parents. My FIL passed away very suddenly and the Mom's met at the wake. You simply never know what tomorrow may bring.

Our parents haven't met yet. Mine live in Illinois (where I am from), his live in New Orleans, and we live in Georgia. My aunt has met his mom though. They both happened to be visiting us this past Thanksgiving, so they were able to meet. I am hoping at least our moms will be able to meet before the wedding, but with the distance between everyone it's hard.

My parents met his mom after we had been together for 6 years, and after our engagement (after 7 years together) my parents met both his parents.

Our parents actually met a few months after we started dating. We all went out for dinner. Since then we've shared Christmases, his parents have stayed at my parents and vise versa and my parents attended Dh's sister's wedding last March.

Our parents met after we had been dating a year (we're at 3 years now). Things started to get serious and I was moving in with FH. At the same time we were taking a trip to Paris with FMIL so my parents wanted to meet her before we flew halfway around the world together lol. Since then we do a lot together. FMIL will come to Thanksgiving at my parents and my parents have gone to FMILs house for Christmas and Easter... I have been sooo thankful and happy that we both come from great families that really get along. I absolutely love my in-laws. It makes things so much easier

Our parents both knew each other before my FI and I were engaged and well even before we were dating. Both of our families are very close with each other but I know a lot of people parents who don't meet until the wedding day.

K&J'15 that is a very sad story, my parents had a similar experience my dad's mother passed away when he was in HS and his father when he was in college. My mom always says how sad she was that she never got to meet them.

It is really cool to hear about some parents who like each other. I would love it if my FH and mine's parents got along that well! It would make family holidays so much easier if occasionally we could do joint ones.

Interestingly enough, my parents met my FH's father and stepmother way back in 2000 or 2001, at a Christmas morning brunch at the FILs' house. This was before I had ever met FH, or for that matter, even knew he existed.

However, there will be no meeting or "reuniting" of my parents and his either before or after our wedding. FH's father passed away 5 years ago, FH is not on any kind of speaking terms with his mother (history of abuse and neglect; I support his decision completely), and his stepmother has pretty much cut the two of us off due to our standing up for ourselves against the toxic and mean-spirited behavior of his half-sister. Sad, but it is what it is. I'm just so glad my family loves FH and have accepted him as one of *our* family.

I met DH in highschool and he lived with his mom in the same neighborhood as I did with my mom, so they met when we started dating. Our fathers didn't meet until the wedding, 10 years later, and I don't think my mom met his dad (cause she got very ill the night before the wedding and had to miss it) until he got ill with cancer and came to live with us. By then we'd been married 5 years, and I don't think I realized they'd never met before-- it'd just been so *long*, so I don't think I did a very formal introduction!

Our parents have never met. His parents live in Washington and mine in New York. I would hope that they would meet at some point before the wedding, but based on our timeline and financial responsibilities, I don't think we would be able to.

ETA: I am kind of nervous for our parents to meet. My fiancé is Chinese and my family is white so there is a very large cultural different between both of our families. Even just the language barrier, I know my parents will not be able to understand a word his parents try to speak in English. But knowing both, they really have nothing in common. So I'm worried how both will act together or think of the other.

Our parents already know each other. They just don't speak to each other. We are all from the same city. I try and get our parents together but FMIL just doesn't seem interested.

Our mothers met shortly after we got engaged (a year and a half ahead of our wedding). My mom met FFIL when we had a family and wedding party meet and greet (so everyone in the wedding party as well as our parents and siblings could meet one another. My FH's grandmother came to MA from OH to attend), my dad cancelled at the last minute, he met FMIL at Easter (both FH and my parents are divorced so there hasn't been a time except the meet and greet when there was an opportunity to meet before the wedding). FFIL will probably meet my dad the day of the wedding (unless they both go with FH and his party go look at tuxes)

Our parents are in the same county so they met about 2 years into the relationship at an annual christmas party that FH family hold every year. They get along and chit chat yay!

BTW these are his "adopted" parents, they took him as their son when he was in his 30s. FH parents have passed and I have never met them either

Ours met because they had to coordinate driving FH and I to dates when we first started dating, since we didn't have drivers licenses yet. That was almost 9 years ago lol.

Ours will meet the weekend before the wedding in SF. Then we'll spend that week together with other family and friends at the campground. Mine are in California and his are in the Netherlands.

My dad met his mom after we had been together about 5 months...she was giving me an antique china cabinet and dining room set and so my dad drove to get it for me (my FH and his family live in a city about 1.5 hours away...so we have been long distance our whole relationship!) The night we got engaged we went to dinner with his parents and my parents and they officially met Smiley smile

My FH and I hosted an engagement party brunch where both families met, along with our closest friend who will be in the bridal party. It was really lovely, we met at a restaurant had brunch, and went back to our house for mimosas and bloody mary's. It was really nice to have the meeting of the families done ahead of time, so there will be no stress or need for introductions during the wedding weekend.
