When did "the parents" meet?

I was wondering how close to the wedding did "the parents" meet? My FH and I have been together for 3 years, but our parents have never met because mine are in GA and his are in IN and we live in OH. My FH and I have been together for 3 years, but our parents have never met because mine are in GA and his are in IN and we live in OH. I'm pushing for it to happen sooner rather than later, I'm hoping it will help curb any potential wedding drama that could occur just because they don't know each other, and my parents are planning to visit in the next month which could be really convenient to try and plan some sort of get together.

That being said my FH thinks that we should just let them meet at the rehearsal dinner, and doesn't want to try and organize anything.

My parents met his parents right at the beg. of our dating relationship over 3 years ago.

You can always just do a Skype date.

Our parents and respective families for that matter won't meet each other until the day of the rehearsal. Everyone just lives too far apart...and honestly that's just fine with me :-)

His dad hasn't met my family because he lives in a different country, but our moms met after about 6 months and they LOVE each other! I often have my mom and MIL over for lunch and drinks. I'm very lucky that they're both amazing.

DH and I are high school sweethearts, so my mom met his early on. My dad met his mom when we graduated high school (two years into our relationship), but his dad didn't come. My dad finally met his dad at the wedding (I don't think I formally introduced them-- we'd been dating 10 years by then, and it just didn't occur to me that while DH and I had met each other's fathers, they had never met each other. My mom was sick and missed the wedding, so she didn't meet my FIL till he got very ill and came out to live with us about five years later. Again, I'd been with DH so long it just didn't dawn on me that my mom hadn't met his dad in all that time, so I don't think I did a very formal invite.

In the end, though-- don't sweat it. Your in-laws don't have to like or get along with your parents. If they haven't met before your wedding, chances are they won't be meeting often. As long as you and DH can get along with the family you see often, that's all that matters.

Our moms met on our first date--DH and I went to high school together, and he asked me to go to a dance with him, and my mom insisted she meet him and his mom first, so we met in the parking lot beforehand. Not sure when my dad and FIL met, but it was probably shortly thereafter.

Our parents will meet at the rehearsal dinner. His mom lives an 8 hour drive away and doesn't travel (though she is coming to the wedding)
