The guest list. It’s been been the hardest since October.

I'm still very early in the process so I'm sure I'll hit more roadblocks!

So far my hardest decision has been Color scheme!

I had this entire vision in my head and it just won't work with our venue and the tone of the reception. We have settled on a color scheme that normally I wouldn't like at all, but I think it will turn out beautiful and fit our style perfectly.

Guest list was the biggest pain, then I bought a second dress the day after I bought the first one because I felt pressured. Another big one was photographer. We had a smaller budget for one but working in television I had big expectations for my photographer, luckily we found one we can afford and we love their pictures but it took a lot of time and he was the last vendor we booked!

Guest list without a doubt, FMIL wanted to invite every single person she knew.

Bridesmaid dresses and shoes to go with my gown have been the biggest headache!!!! Guest list was super easy for us because FH and I were literally on the same page with that. We decided that if they hadn't made a positive impact in our life in the last year then they weren't invited. We didn't invite Aunt Sue just because we invited Aunt Karen. If people are offended, oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️ Lol!

So far, it's been the photographer. I had an excel spreadsheet with a lot of different photographers before we found the one we're signing with this week. It's been hard to find a balance between the budget and between quality. This is an area I was willing to spend a little more money on.

That being said, I'm sure there are more difficult decisions ahead.

Yeah, guest list has been tough. But I am struggling with photography. I am overthinking the process because I know it is important and something I want for years to come but... it isn’t something that I can see right now. There is no way to control that aspect until the day of.

Guest list definitely. FH and his mom are both people pleasers so FMIL wants to invite everyone she’s ever spoke more than two words to. FH was cutting his friends off the list to accommodate this. And I wanted a much smaller wedding. We ended up compromising, I agreed to larger guest list if he invited his friends, and he cut his moms list down to only the close family friends that he grew up with.

Honestly - the hotel block! I've learned hotels are pretty horrible at communicating. They also were only wiling to give us 10 - 20 rooms when we have at least 60 couples staying over. I felt like this was going to be the easiest decision yet it has been nothing but pure chaos!

The guest list was probably the biggest hurdle for us because we had wanted an intimate wedding and both our parents wanted something bigger. Both parents offered to contribute to wedding costs for us to increase our guest list, so it has been an interesting experience throughout planning right now.

Everything! I started planning about 6 months ago but have been engaged since 2016. I wanted to just plan everything really quick and coast through! HA HA HA! Catering has I think been the hardest to figure out budget wise but to be honest I think I am giving up on having a color scheme

Guest List has been the hardest part for us so far but we have just started planning so we may run into something different later along the road. I only wanted 100 at the max but we are at 150 so we changed our max to 200.

It was the seating chart, I wanted to be sure everyone was comfortable with who they would be next to. Took me 3 hours to figure the seating for 42 people-if I had more guest, lord help me 😂

There have only been 2 huge things that were difficult to plan (so far anyway haha I'm sure more will arise over the next 8 months....)

    1) The Venue. We're getting married in the Los Angeles area, so of course wedding venues are RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE. We searched for venues all over LA County, all the way down to San Diego, to the inland empire (Palm Springs area) and even looked at some venues in Las Vegas. We both agreed on the type of wedding we wanted (mostly outdoors, more on the rustic side, full of succulents & cacti or at least the opportunity to bring our own in to fill the space). We found several venues we loved that were exactly what we wanted, but were WAY over budget.... like $10,000 + over budget. So trying to find a venue we loved but fit in our $20,000 (total for absolutely everything) budget was extremely exhausting and difficult. But luckily, after about 4 months of searching, we finally found an incredible venue we loved and fit right into our budget... we do have to get married on a Friday, as it was over $5,000 more for Sat/Sun, but that was an easy compromise for us to reach Smiley smile

    2) The whole "first look" or not thing. This is something we're still working through to plan. I've posted a discussion here on WW to help get opinions on the matter lol

Hopefully the remainder of the planning continues to go smoothly Smiley smile

My hardest thing was the invitations. I just couldn't decide & FH was no help. He was picking ones with flowers, which was fine except the were christmas flowers or fall leaves & my wedding is in May not the fall or winter. I finally decided 3 weeks ago & they get sent this week..
