What was the very first decision you made for your wedding? Was it the location, date, color scheme??
We got engaged january 2018 and planned on having the wedding in june of 2020, this way we would have enough time to plan and save since i was in school finishing my degree at the time. i got my dress & veil shortly after we got engagement before anything was planned and I feel like that was a great decision! it took the worry and stress out of trying to find one in a certain amount of time on top of all the other high stress decisions that were to come.
after that we designed all of our stationary: invites, save the dates, seating chart, etc and had them saved and ready to order when it was time. I started to get little things that i knew i wanted on Etsy like jewelry and hair accessories, the guest book, get ready robes, etc. About 4 months later, we found our venue and selected our date then immediately booked our officiant, florist, makeup artist, hair stylist, dj, and cake baker shortly after since those vendors require the most notice in advance to secure booking.
now that all the big ticket items are secured, we are able to focus more on the small scale things that aren’t as time sensitive!
The first thing I knew we needed to do was pick the venue and secure a date. After that, everything else I feel falls into place. Plus, many venues offer included decor options or packages with dj and photographer which makes it easier because that takes this things off the list and saves time.
We decided on our vendor unofficially and the date officially. Because Searles Castle (my vendor choice) had dates in October (Corey's season choice), we went with them. I guess my answer is that we both had 1 thing in mind for what would make our wedding perfect and each of us got that right away!
