What was the very fist venue you visited? Did it end up being the one??
Because I work Monday-Friday I couldn't visit a lot of venues. So we did a lot of online searching. We even did research on having a wedding at Disneyland or Disney World but decided it would be too much for our families
The day we went to see our new home for the first time as the realtor was showing it to us. We both saw the possibilities in the home. Later when we talked on the possibility of areas to be married we kept going back to the home. That was when we both knew in our hearts that the new home would be the perfect place for our marriage.
Mine was a lakeside resort in a tourist-type town that was REALLY expensive. It was not the one we signed with, but I am glad for that because we just signed with an amazing venue!

We made the mistake of not touring venues. That was a disaster.
The first venue we visited was a local golf club that I saw at a bridal show and they were having a wedding open house so figured why not start there. After the open house we made a one on one appointment to go back and view it again as our last stop. It was the only venue we went to on a whim without researching first ended up being the one!
The first one we looked at was a barn but it smelled like a barn and i didn't like it. We went with a barn that doesn't smell like a barn but i havent actually looked at it yet. I just saw the pics on the website and it's beautiful!
In passing this place all the time we both knew that this was our location. Everytime we pass day or night this place stands out. In all possible way. Its absolutely stunning both inside and out. We had never even been in the place before our engagement. So once we were officially engaged we set up a tour. Which he couldn't see because he was at work on the Island. So i did what any future bride would do. i called up a bridesmaid and took her with me, amd got the shock of my life. The venue that we had chosen is an all exclusive venue. So one time payment for just about everything! S/o to The Oaks on 22 in Ponchatula La, and also the staff because they are just wonderful people that goes above and beyond.

The first venue I went to was a no-go. And I'm still looking. Had one place in mind but they are not answering my emails.
Technically my sister and I poked our noses around a potential venue on the way home from a bridal show, but the first venue FH and I looked at was a super fancy restaurant at the top of a tower that definitely withheld some info about expenses when I emailed them. WAY out of budget!
The first venue we visited was StoryBrooks Farm in Lindale, GA. It was very pretty and the owners were just lovely! We just didn't fall in love with the property.
It was a refurbished barn in town. It was the venue we ended up choosing for our wedding. We only visited two total. I like to do a lot of online research to eliminate uncesseayr trips.
