What Vendors do you tip?

Rachel, on April 1, 2019 at 10:42 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4
So, I’ve heard from multiple couples who’ve gotten married that you’re supposed to tip vendors who don’t own their own business. My photographer owns his own business but he’s coming as well as one of his other photographers, so do I tip him? And what about the photobooth attendant? My ceremony/reception site takes care of all the catering so I’m not sure if I’m tipping waitstaff or bartenders as well. If so, what percent are you guys tipping? With all the $ & planning going into the wedding I overlooked having to tip!

Our photographer owns her own company and we’re still tipping. We’re also tipping officiant, bartender, and caterer/servers. I didn’t even think about the photo booth attendants, so I’d love the see other comments!

My photographer, DJ and hair and make up people all own their own businesses. I am planning on tipping them all anyways. As far as the catering goes, there is a service/gratuity fee added into our final cost so I believe we do not tip because it is included.

Our venue is mostly inclusive. I will be tipping the waitstaff, bartenders, chefs, chef assistants and wedding coordinator who are all employees of the venue. I will be tipping the DJ and photographer, even though they are self employed. I will also be tipping the people who deliver our flowers. The HMUA has a 20% tip included in the bill. I think that is everything for the day of the wedding. I don't plan on tipping outside of my means. I have to determine the waitstaff and bartenders tips based on the number of workers. I plan on tipping the chef, chef assistants, and wedding coordinator $50 each. The DJ and photographer will also get $50 each. They set their own prices and were happy to take advantage of a $50 vendor meal paid by me. The flower delivery people will also set up and take down flowers in the venue so I will likely tip them 20-50 dollars each. I am planning on spending somewhere around $500 in tips, not including HMUA . I do not want to spend more than $700 in tips, and I won't. We are having a smallish wedding of 75 people at a farm to table style venue.

Definitely speak with your venue and check if gratuity is included in the bill, or will you have to pay this separately. You don't want to get caught on the day without having cash ready!

Just 12 days left!!! What's left on the to-do list?
