What to wear to a black tie optional wedding?

Hey girls!! I’m going to my future brother in laws wedding and there having a black tie optional wedding which I love because I love dressing up. Originally I was going to wear a dress I have in my closet from bring a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding but is that okay? It’s a wine color. I just can’t decide should I wear that or get a new dress in a new color? Is there colors other then white and there wedding color I should avoid? Thanks for your help!!

As long as it isn't too close in style and/or color as the bridesmaid dresses they are using for the wedding, I think it's fine.

The bridesmaids all picked there own dresses, and the dress colors are steel blue.

I agree with PP, as long as the dress does not obviously look like a bridesmaids dress, you should be fine. And also woo hoo!!... you actually get the opportunity to wear a bridesmaids dress twice😆 Every bride says “you can totally wear this again”, but rarely does that ever happen.

I think its great! You could even add some sort of belt if you’re worried about the whole bridesmaid look. I think you can also get larger jewelry pieces and that would be perfect!

I dont think it should be an issue. Your dress does look bridesmaidy but it’s a different color so I don’t think anyone will really notice. I wore an old bridesmaid dress to a wedding as a guest. I did check with the bride, mostly because it was black and wanted to make sure she didn’t mind, lol (I don’t know why I thought black would be a problem but 🤷‍♀️).

I don’t think so either. I was questioning black too when I was looking for a new one if I was close to the bride I would ask her if she minded. But I think it should be okay
