What to wear to a black tie optional wedding?

Hey girls!! I’m going to my future brother in laws wedding and there having a black tie optional wedding which I love because I love dressing up. Originally I was going to wear a dress I have in my closet from bring a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding but is that okay? It’s a wine color. I just can’t decide should I wear that or get a new dress in a new color? Is there colors other then white and there wedding color I should avoid? Thanks for your help!!

I agree you can wear it if it's distinct from the actual bridesmaids. I also recommend dressing it up with jewelry, etc. I went to a couple "modern black tie" weddings, but I didn't have a long gown, so I put on a ton of stuff to make the short dresses more "blingy."

The wine color dress is good because 1 you have used the dress again and to save money 2 and dont have to figure out another style

The bridesmaid dress is fine. A black tie wedding or similar event is the only time anyone will rewear a bridesmaid dress so have fun with it.
