What song/music are you walking down the aisle to?

ThatGirl, on March 21, 2018 at 9:04 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 44

I am about as out of touch with music as humanly possible... If it was released after about 2001 I probably haven't heard of it... (I feel seriously sorry for my DJ!) I am a podcast & NPR geek... but really want to find the perfect song to walk down the aisle to, and am curious what everyone else is walking to.

Are you going with a song or something classical/orchestral?

I have been considering the song - "I have loved you for thousand years" - I think the lyrics could be perfect... but also don't want to chose something 'unoriginal' ...

We are walking down to an acoustic guitar singer playing Say You Won't Let Go - James Arthur.

I love A Thousand Years though, FH didn't like it Smiley sad

I think it's important to find something that fits your personality as a bride and as a couple. There are so many beautiful songs and options! You can search the web for some popular ones and listen to the with FH on youtube.

I am picking a song I stumbled upon one day on youtube. I was listening to songs by a new artist I had discovered and a song popped up that was posted by her friend before she became famous. It's a simple song she sang in her kitchen with just her quitar. The song doesn't even have an official title and hasn't been recorded on any album. It fits me and the way I feel about my FH so perfectly!

Also, I would take into consideration the type of wedding your having and the formality of it. We're having an outdoor wedding that is semi formal so the song fits the environment and "feel" of the day.

I am walking down to a song called “Still” by Tamia. It is very unoriginal, but it touches on every part of why we are adding this new chapter to our ever changing story. Good luck.

That Thousand Years song is definitely one of the most, if not the most popular choice.

My FH actually cares about this more than anything else and he has asked me to walk to The Flys - Got You. Which is pretty funny to me. I told him sure if our first dance can be to Pretty Ricky - Grind With Me 😂 I wanted to walk down to a string quartet playing Halo by Beyonce.

So anyway, it's my opinion that you can just choose any song you love. Even from pre-2001 😉 Good luck!

We're having a friend sing a rendition of "Is This Love" while playing the ukelele. We were going to do the acapella version of "Gold" from Once the musical but our wedding party hated it Smiley sad

I will be 52 when I walk down the aisle (for the first time). I am debating between Rascal Flatts "Bless the Broken Road" (which really speaks to my heart), or Etta James "At Last" (which would probably give everyone a chuckle and not make me cry, but still be beautiful. Totally torn.

Ah I love At Last, such a beautiful song. Smiley love FMIL asked if we could use that song....it's her sons first marriage at 43 and it was a running family joke that he would always be a bachelor.

I'm walking down the aisle to the piano version of "Bless the broken road" by Rascal Flatts Smiley smile

A thousand years is beautiful, but probably the most common walk song. I have 4 friends who have used it in the last year

As much as people love a thousand years it will be on my do not play list. It makes me depressed. I may use the song we were originally going to use as our first dance which is I'll be by Edwin McCain. FH has decided he would prefer I don't dance by Lee Brice which is ironically what I was debating walking down the aisle to. Either that or glass by Thompson Square.

I'm doing She Falls Asleep (part 1) by McFly. Part 2 is really gloomy so we're sticking with instrumentals! Lol

We walked down to Strangers by the Kinks, a super favourite for both of us. my brothers played guitar and sang it for us. it was such a lovely moment.

my BFF is a violinist and does a lot of weddings with her string quartet and she confirmed that A Thousand Years is the song she most gets asked to play for processionals, by a very very wide margin Smiley smile

Same! That'll be our processional, but I'll walk down to "Here, There, and Everywhere" by the Beatles (special thanks to Phoebe's wedding on Friends for being the inspiration!)

I’m not quite to this point in planning yet, but I think the piano version of a thousand years is beautiful. I know it’s super popular, but I think that’s with good reason!

I am walking to A Better Place by Rachel Platton by a stringed trio. He is walking to Die a Happy Man or The Luckiest. Also on strings.
