What song are you walking down the aisle to??

Ashley, on October 11, 2018 at 9:05 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 35
I’ve been searching for songs other than the original wedding song or a thousand years. Anyone use something different?

I'm not 100% set yet, but I'm getting married in a church and I think I'm walking down to Canon in D but that is fairly traditional.

Unpopular opinion here, but I'm not a huge fan of that song.

We used string quartet versions of John Legend, "All Of Me Loves All Of You" (husband's pick) and Lifehouse, "You and Me." (my pick) Our recessional song was. "I Love You Always Forever" by Donna Lewis.

Hey there Ashley!!! Welcome to the WeddingWire community!!! Smiley ring

There are tons of suggestions in other discussions here. I'll link a couple of discussions and you can look through the comments and see what other community members have suggested. Smiley smile From what I remember, Vitamin String Quartet is a popular one and there's also a wedding medley by them or some similar group that I really like.

Processional music - this is more geared toward bridal party entrances, but they've got some really good suggestions as well

    Walk down the aisle song?

Are you looking for slow and romantic or some other vibe?

We are having a theme wedding so our pianist is going to be playing music from the 20s and 30s before, during and after the ceremony and into cocktail hour. We are walking in together and the song that we are walking into is " The Very Thought of You ". I absolutely love this song. It reminds me of my grandparents.

We are using "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic." A cover of the Police's version done by Sleeping At Last (it's ridiculously pretty!)

    Train - Marry Me

    Pachelbel - Canon In D

Perri, Christina - A Thousand Years

Reinhart, Haley - Can't Help Falling In Love

Goulding, Ellie - How Long Will I Love You

Kamakawiwo'ole, Israel 'Iz' - Over The Rainbow

Adele - Make You Feel My Love

Bareilles, Sara - I Choose You

Silvestri, Alan - Forrest Gump Theme

Dan + Shay - From The Ground Up

Legend, John - All Of Me

    Sheeran, Ed - Perfect

    Johnson, Jack - Better Together

    Piano Guys - Without You

Barrymoore Chamber Orchestra - Pachelbel's Canon In D

Beatles - Here Comes The Sun

Bright Eyes - First Day Of My Life

Arthur, James -Say You Won't Let Go

FH chose Marry Me - Train (done by our acoustic guitar/singer). I wanted Cannon in D but he wanted something our ceremony musician could play.

So, we're having a Halloween-themed wedding, and my fiancé, myself, and our immediate families are all huge fans of Mel Brooks films. We were watching our favorite of his films, Young Frankenstein, and it hit us both, we turned and looked at each other, and it was decided that I will be walking down the aisle to the pretty monster's theme from that movie. We already had a violinist for our ceremony music, so we didn't have to worry about that. We're keeping it a big secret though, known only to my FH, myself, and my two MOHs. We can't wait to see the surprise on their faces. Haha! We plan on doing something else for the rest of the wedding party, and then switching to that theme when I start my walk.

Unconventional, yes, but we're an unconventional couple. Haha.

Best of luck on your search for a song, and best of luck with all of your planning!!!

Congratulations on your engagement and wedding!!!

Kind of funny, but I walked to an instrumental version of A Thousand Years and our wedding party walked to an instrumental version of Can't Help Falling in Love.

I walked down the aisle to a slightly slowed down version of the Gane of Thrones theme song for a subtle, nerdy touch!

Unpopular opinion here, but personally I am so sick of hearing A Thousand Years or anything by Ed Sheeran at weddings. It’s predictable. Sorry!
I love Make You Feel My Love, as PP suggested! I am walking down the aisle to Moon River which is what I’ve always wanted, but also thought about Here Comes the Sun, and I See the Light from Tangled.
I think that your processional song should be something that you want and love!

*whispers* I'm sick of them too but will never tell someone using it that information because I'm too nice lol. (but to each their own, right?!) I also felt the same about that John Legend song a few years ago. It took me about a full year to be able to listen to it without cringing lol.

Here Comes the Sun is like a sweet sleeper pick! We're using it during our ceremony for a "Surprise" for our parents - instead of the "mothers' rose" ceremony we're doing a "parents' gifts" thing where we present them with hand written cards. They don't know anything about it.
