What song are you using?

Jennifer, on April 30, 2018 at 9:29 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 77
So I just realized not everyone uses the typical wedding match when the bride walks down the aisle. If you're not using the traditional song what are you using for yourself and the bridesmaids going down the aisle? Are you using that song for when you walk back up the aisle as a married couple or something different?

We're having a guitar duo for our ceremony musicians, so all of our ceremony music will be acoustic guitar versions. FH and I are hugely into music, we've seen over 50 concerts together and it was important for our wedding to reflect our love for music and include our favorite musicians.

Prelude - Stand By Me - Ben E. King

Processional - Dog Days Are Over - Florence + The Machine

Bride Entrance - Shelter by Porter Robinson & Madeon

Tree Planting Ceremony - First Day of My Life - Bright Eyes

Recessional - Here Comes The Sun - The Beatles

Omg, I wish we had this nailed down! We are thinking Somewhere Over the Rainbow for the processional, but then FH suggested Marry Me by Train and I’m confused. We also like first Day of My Life by Bright Eyes and Book of Love. We have a guitarist.

BP walked in to “Seasons of Love” from Rent, but the Vitamin String Quartet version (husband and I saw it on broadway the night we got engaged)
I walked in to “Maria’s Processional” from the Sound of Music (both my mom and my sister used this for their processionals and it’s my favorite movie)
We wanted something fun and upbeat for our recessional so we used “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher” by Jackie Wilson

I'm going to walk down to "Your Song" by Elton John, which is so cliche, but we're having a piano player and the piano at the beginning of that song just gives me all the feels. Thinking "Here Comes the Sun" for the BMs, but haven't discussed that with FH yet.

We're walking out to "Helpless" from Hamilton and I am SO EXCITED.

Procession is to piano only version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. We are exiting to I Got You (I Feel Good) - it’ll start the vibe we want for the reception since our ceremony is table side and we move immediately into reception.

I'm torn. A part of me wants to go traditional. If we do that then it will be "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by Bach (for the wedding party) and "Canon in D Major" by Pachelbel when I walk down the aisle.

If I decide to go modern then for the wedding party we will go with "Can't help falling inlove "by Elvis (instrumental) or "Somwhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel (instrumental) and then "Marry Me" by Train when I walk down the aisle.

For Recessional I really want "Wedding March" by Mendelssohn. I've always liked that idea, but it's not definite.
