What should I put on about us for wedding website?

FutureMrsAF, on February 22, 2017 at 1:47 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 22

I have how we met, should I also include individual interests and careers or just keep it centered around us as a couple?

I'm writing it and it's starting to feel like a personals ad haha. Just curious!

I was using WW and it does have the option to skip it so I may do that. They can get to know me (if they don't already) at the wedding lol.

All I did was how we met and wrote how he proposed. The rest is pictures of us and information about the wedding.

About us as a couple but also added a bit of each of us. I did this because a lot of FH is OOS/won't be able to attend but still get a little intro to me.

We skipped the whole "our story" because it sound cheesy and totally not us. Our website has the when/where details, hotel block info, directions, registries, and photos of us. We also added a "things to do" section because the wedding will be in my hometown, but his side will all be coming from out of state.

My "about us" is four sentences. No one really cares about any of it, especially interests and careers. I doubt most of our guests even visited our website - most don't.

I just skipped it altogether. Trying to write it made my brain hurt. Nobody cares... they just want to know what time to show up and where.

I also skipped the 'Wedding Party' section and probably all other "fluff" sections.

Unpopular opinion here. We didn't write much and people kept saying we should've written more so I'm a fan of it. I admit I read others' wedding websites with great excitement and get disappointed if there isn't much there haha. Definitely focus on the two of you as a couple: where you met, what you enjoy, how he proposed, etc.

We wrote a paragraph about the other: what we're doing with our lives, our hobbies, etc. Then we wrote an additional paragraph about us as a couple. Several people have told us they like that section.

We have a cute story about the proposal, my dad stole his thunder and sent me a text before FH could officially ask me. We also did a "conversation" style story of the ring.

I did a story on our proposal.. but it's because it's out of the ordinary ( I proposed to him with a scavenger hunt around town).. otherwise I would have skipped it

I actually like those stories. They're the only reasons I visit a wedding website. All the other information I usually already have or can get from my invitation. We are doing a short paragraph on our relationship history as well as my fiancé's proposal on our wedding website.

I wrote out a huge long one yesterday. Then last night I deleted everything besides how we met and how he proposed and a few other facts.

The rest is just photos, wedding location, things to do, registry info.

I did something short and sweet for about us (how we met and the proposal) in third person. Then I wrote something about FH and FH did the same. I know some people find it lame, but I did enjoyed getting an email from my FH when he was finished writing his portion about me. He really thought about it and put it into words very nicely. I love reading it every now and then, it gives me the feels. I can't wait to marry this man.

We sent out our save the dates out in November with our website printed on it. I've had about 5-10 people ask where we are registered (we only sent out 60 invitations). When I say on the website they say they haven't looked at the website. I wouldn't over think it.....

We did two short paragraphs one about how we met/our first date and one about our proposal.

I don't think if this as one of the more important pages that guests who actually use the website go to there looking for. They go to look up directions, hotel block info, and to check if you put registry info on your website.

I'm no help. I hid that section. Too personal for me.
