What kind of wedding dress is suitable for a beach wedding

All sorts of dresses would work wonderfully! Are you on pinterest? This is the perfect time to start a board of dress inspiration! Things to think about on the beach:

Long or short--do you want a long wedding gown, or do you want a more practical short dress that won't get sand all up in the hem?

Temperature--are you going to be out in the heat of summer, or will there be a chilly wind? Many beach dresses are light and flowy to help keep you cool, but not all beaches are tropical paradises

Formality--What do you imagine your FH and guests wearing? Your dress should fit the general vibe of the wedding, whether that's flip flops and beach wear or semi-formal despite the sand.

I recommend no train and not a ballgown.

I'm going against the grain, and I am going to wear whatever dress I fall in love with (and in my heart I'm hoping its a ballgown). I haven't gone dress shopping yet, but I don't want to limit myself to dresses that are typically considered "beach appropriate" (mostly because I'm not a big fan of them. I don't like empire waist, sheath gowns, or chiffon) - I will obviously try my best to go with something that isn't super heavy, but I know you can get fuller dresses in lighter fabrics so that they do not weigh as much.

Basically to sum it up, i genuinely believe you can wear whatever dress you are happy in, even if its on a beach. It may not be what is "suggested" but you shouldn't limit yourself.

I agree with Missy. Don't feel forced to pick a dress that is more "beachy" if you fall in love with something else. You could always change things around to make it fit more, different decorations/flowers/etc. But do keep in mind the sand, the weather, the time of day and if you'd be comfortable enough in whichever dress you choose while being on the beach.

You do not have to limit yourself when choosing a dress for your beach wedding. Here in South Florida some of the most elaborate weddings are on our beaches with custom made designer gowns that go all out!

You can wear whatever you'd like. One of the recent weddings I worked, which was a beach wedding at the 4 seasons, the Bride wore a custom made Christian Dior gown. She rocked it!

I'm getting married on the beach and I went with something that I loved, not necessarily something perfect for the beach. I went for style and not practicality I say get a dress that will make you happy, no matter what the style.

@Aimee - I looked in to lighter dresses, and they just didn't feel right to me for my wedding. I only plan on doing this once, so I chose the dress I liked, not the one that matched the scenery.
