What Is/Was Your First Dance Song?

We weren't planning on a first dance.

I also wasn't planning a father daughter dance, but changed my mind.

I'll have to have him look at songs if he wants to dance with me.

Ours is going to be a mix of 2 songs...both by Meghan Trainor...the 1st is LIke Im gonna lose you which is slow and then it will break into Dear Future Husband which we will swing dance to.

Jus Right by Robin Thicke I looveee this song. It is so romantic and the melody is beautiful.

"Thinking out loud" by Ed Sheeran. I'm so glad to only see it once in this thread and still as a consideration. We were in the car talking about it and this song came on. We both love it and it felt right we we did our first trial run after deciding we couldn't comfortably dance to "For Ever and Ever, Amen" by Randy Travis.

I originally declined FHs attempts to tell me it was a sign when it starting playing. My fear was that it was so current and popular, it would be playing at every wedding. I hate following the crowd. The song is just too beautiful for me to resist.

FMT - I LOVE that song!! I loved the original as a kid and when I heard the cover by sleeping at last I really wanted it but the FH didn't like it

@bwren - I got reacquainted to that song from watching guardians of the galaxy. It's such a happy song!

We are still undecided on whether or not we will being having a first dance, but if we do we will be dancing to 'Kiss Me' by Ed Sheeran.

About 2-3 months into us dating FH was talking to me about Ed Sheeran. At the time I had not really heard of him, so FH sent this song to me. Ever since 'Kiss Me' has been our song. Even though FH had not told me he loved me yet, I was able to take the hint from hearing this song

I have my mind set on Close Your Eyes by Michael Buble. Still waiting for FH to cosign it

Our first dance song is more up beat and we took a couple dance classes which was an amazing idea. I recommend it to every bride and groom! Our song is Life is better with you- by Michael Franti

Gladys Knight & the Pips "The Best thing that ever happened to me" ... perfect for us, an older couple, who has seen life's ups and downs (especially for me ... having been in an abusive relationship before I met my FH). It is perfect for us.

Rhonda, my partner of 17 years and I were married last weekend and we also chose "The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me". I'm a huge Gladys Knight Fan and I got my bride on board for this song without much effort. As a wedding gift, she bought us tickets to see Gladys this weekend in concert!

Our first dance song is Amazed - Lonestar

Ours was "Bless the Broken road" by Rascal Flatts. Ever since I heard it, when it first came out I loved it and knew it was the perfect song to use for my wedding. I played it for hubby and he liked it too. The lyric's really hit home for us.

We went out for our official "first dance" a bit later in the evening. it was the Plain White T's "1, 2, 3, 4".

But my brother pointed out that we had gotten on the dance floor a bit earlier to encourage some of the kids to dance, so in reality, our first dance was "The Chicken Dance" played by our amazing polka band.

Side note: I didn't realize how fun polka could be! X^D

Ours was Grow Old With You by Adam Sandler from the Wedding Singer because

-DH didn't want country

-DH doesn't like to dance so this was a nice short one

-I think it's really quirky and funny like our relationship.
