What is the most stressful part of wedding dress shopping?

Tina, on September 6, 2019 at 7:04 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 32

I found myself driving all over the city to try on dresses by different designers. I wish can just try on the ones I was hoping to try at one-go. And after trying on so many, I couldn't find one to commit because there are a few that were absolutely amazing but a bit out of my budget. I wish it was just as easy as online shopping that I can see the styles and compare the price all at once. I found some used and sample dresses by the same designers and in similar styles online, but unsure if I should make the leap as it is a huge investment.

Ladies, do you enjoy your wedding dress shopping? What was the most stressful part of the experience? How does online wedding dress shopping sound to you?

I was a bit stressed out trying on dresses. None of them really wowed me or was really my style even though I did like a few. I would online shop like a mad woman and I found my dream dress. With that, the dress I found was on a sketchy website and I couldn't for the life of me find a legit store or website to purchase it from . I couldn't find who the designer was. My biggest fear was not being able to find a dress at all.

I tried so hard to continue shopping for one but kept coming back to my dream dress. I finally bit the bullet and talked to a couple custom places. I found Anomalie and the process has been great and my dress is currently in production. I'm super excited but also really nervous.

I found the perfect dress right away, but then everyone kept stressing me out saying you should wait and look all over first. It’s impossible to know and be happy right away. But I really love my dress!

OMG I am almost thinking the same right now! Anomalie popped up on my IG one day. I started the process but scared to move forward with them. Please let me know how it turns out for you! And fingers crossed!

That was great Peggy! How did you know that dress was the one. Did you look through different styles before you went in to try one on? At the beginning I thought I like the more lacey style with straps, but after I tried on one with more sparkles and a sweetheart neckline, it started to grow on me. Now I am confused.

I bought mine online, a sample dress from a salon but they post listings for their samples online. I literally looked at a photo and my FH bought the dress online and we picked it up.
I know most brides would never do this but I just knew and it took all the stress out of sticking to a budget or finding the one. Once it’s bought that’s it!

I approached wedding dress shopping pretty casually. I looked on WW and Pinterest and just bookmarked things I liked, but didn't pay too much attention to the designer. The only pattern I ended up noticing was that I kept saving things from Allure!

When I booked my first bridal appointment, I was really open to trying on all sorts of styles, but I thought I sort of had what I wanted figured out.

After trying on about 6-8 dresses, what was flattering and not so flattering actually surprised me, and I wouldn't have been able to tell that from online shopping.

I knew my dress was "the one" when I wanted to immediately take all the other ones off and put that one back on--which just so happened to be the first dress I tried on! And it was not an Allure. Smiley smile

The process itself has been so simple and I was nervous too. I definitely don't mind sharing my experience. What part of the process did you stop at??

Did you work with the seller to figure out the sizing and everything? My biggest fear is that what if I don’t like it once I put it on even it looks good in the pictures.

The seller had label size and street size listed(size 12/street 8) so I just used the dress designer’s size chart to compare. I already knew my measurements because I buy custom costumes. Fit like a glove!

Like stopped BEFORE you made the payment, right? That's where you kind of freaked out?

You have to already know what shapes look good on your body, not necessarily wedding dresses just in general. I knew my stomach pouch would make me uncomfortable in a mermaid so I wanted a poofier skirt.

I bought mine online with the help of my Mom and I am so so happy with it! Just wanted that “made for me” gown and I was able to do the research and get it from stillwhite.com Smiley smile I would try online if you aren’t finding your dream dress within a budget at salons.

I found aspects of different dresses I liked but couldn't seem to find the one. I chose to go with Anomalie and it has been an amazing experience so far

I went in the shop thinking a dress is just a dress, it’s not my priority. I knew I wanted a champagne skirt with an ivory lace overlay from looking online, beaded top, some kind of straps or sleeves, and no train. I found one that was the perfect look with the colors, lace, and beading, but it was strapless and did have a train. I had cap sleeves added on so that was easy, and I decided the train wasn’t a deal breaker. I tried 5 dresses, but only to appease my stepmom and moh. The others were pretty too and any would have been fine, but just not what I was looking for. Strangers in the store came up to me and said that’s the one, the color is perfect with your skin and hair. Plus this dress is perfect for my venue. I ordered it in April 2018, It took four months to come in, a month to alter, and I started to be unsure because people kept saying what if you change your mind? But whenever I put it on I remember why I picked it. I feel like such a princess in it. Now just 2.5 more months til I get to show my fiancé!

I absolutely loved dress shopping! I didn’t realize how many styles there were! I shopped at 4 different places and told them my budget from the beginning so they knew not to give me any dresses beyond my budget to try on. After trying on so many I got an idea of what styles I liked and which I didn’t. I slept on it and I knew exactly what I wanted down to the material. It was a lot of fun and I also brought a little entourage to let me know what they thought of each dress!

That is great to know! Thanks for sharing! I also checked our stillwhite, at first I was not sure how I would feel in another persons dress. But now I think about it, if the dress was only been worn for a few hours, it shouldn’t be too bad if I really want the one within my budget.
