Where are you located? That will play a major role on how much a DOC costs.

There is no average. As an international forum, no two people pay the same prices for the same service, even in the same city. A major city such as L.A. or NYC will have a variety of budgets from inexpensive to out of reach. A smaller city may charge less due to the lower cost of living or they may charge more due to the rarity of the service. There is no way way to predict any of it.

Go on GoogleMaps or Instagram for your area and look for day of coordinators and contact them for pricing and what all is included. Make sure you meet with them to see if you click before you hire them.
I’ve noticed some coordinators on Instagram are very anti month/day-of services and they only offer full planning which not everyone wants or needs. So make sure also read their fine print on the websites.

I'm in California but when I was looking around the prices varied widely. I ended up booking once for 1400.00.

Thanks Melinda! Good to know! Thank you for sharing! I know there will be a variation in prices. So I wanted to get a ball park on what people was paying so I can recognize what I’m paying for if it the price is a little Steep. Did your DOC participate throughout the planning process or are they just involved on a month prior for the day of the wedding?

It strongly depends on location, and also what specific services you require. Some day of coordinators include things like setup/tear down or rehearsal coordination in the package, while others have those available for additional cost. If you there are any services that they include that you don't need, you could always negotiate a lower price with the unnecessary services removed. Search through Facebook groups for local weddings ("Indianapolis brides" or "Indiana weddings" or something along those lines), and put a post detailing the specific services you need in a day of coordinator, budget, and wedding date, and you'll likely get responses from available vendors who meet the criteria.

Thank you for the advice. I am meeting with another one later this week. I will definitely revisiting their fine print. It seems like they pick any price to me. If you have any more tips on how to choose the right DOC as far as particular services some may or may not include but I should ask about. Please share!

Thanks! Didn’t know they help with coordinating rehearsal. I will pay more attention to additional services provided at additional cost and compare. The current planner I Interviewed was charging 2500 for DOC. As I started to look at different companies in my area, I started to feel like 2500 is a little much. But I didn’t know if that was just me or is this company just expensive, or they offer more services. So I thought I’d get some feedback from my wedding wire friends!

Not a problem! The lowest I saw was 800 the highest was 4,000. We hired her in October for our March wedding. She started working with us from the day we hired her. I've only met with her once but have two more meetings set up and we email back and forth about once a week. She's stepped in as liaison between myself and the vendors.

$2500 does seem a bit high, but I also suppose it depends on what they provide. Are they strictly a day of coordinator, or do they handle coordination for the entire month of your wedding? If you're looking for a day of coordinator, I would definitely keep looking and get pricing from other companies. When I was looking for a coordinator, most companies I talked to were in the $800-$1500 range (I am in Michigan).

As far as coordinating rehearsal, some companies I talked to included it in the package, while others charged extra for it. Same thing for setup and tear down. Definitely take the services provided into account when booking your coordinator, as the packages may be slightly different. If you know what services you definitely want (in addition to keeping your wedding day timeline on track), that would be a great conversation to have with potential coordinators!

Be aware that many venues will have their own coordinator on the payroll but they don’t care about helping you set up/tear down or working behind the scenes with other vendors when situations arise. They are mainly a chaperone of the venue to make sure doors are unlocked, vendors are out on time, policies are upheld.

If you browse Google for Indianapolis day of coordinators, you will get many results. Most have pricing listed on their sites as well as what they offer. Because it is a lower cost of living area than elsewhere in the US, it should not be as expensive. I would have issues paying $2000 for a month/day of coordinator unless I was in a major city (LA or NYC). Also be careful about sites who don’t list prices because there are many posts on the forum mentioning that type of vendor is outside your budget and likely will not negotiate.

Most day/month of coordinators do everything you need to tie up all loose ends and make sure the day runs smoothly behind the scenes so your guests don’t have to work. Their job starts when you start getting ready and ends when your venue curfew starts that you have to be out. They run interference when other vendors have issues: one gets stuck behind a 10 car accident, another is a flake and they have to come up with an alternative before guests notice. They typically do set up/tear down unless they specifically mention they don’t.

I actually just hired my day of coordinator! My wedding is in Boston but I hired a production company that is based out of Rhode Island. When I reached out for quotes I was told anywhere between $900 - $5000 so there is definitely a wide variety of price points. I ended up going with the cheapest option as their package had what I needed which was really just someone to coordinate my vendors day of and help with the venue set up. We get unlimited emails, two meetings during the planning process, one meeting a week prior to the wedding, and at least two assistants for 8 hours on the day of the wedding. I have an event specialist through my venue and have done all of the other planning on my own so I wanted a pretty simple coordination package.

I'm paying $1,500 for my DOC and she has a payment plan if you prefer to do that instead of paying upfront!

I think it depends a lot on your expectations of them. If you were wanting them to do a lot of intensive work and planning for you, and the cost is going to be more. When I was searching prices for DOCs in New Orleans, most averaged around $****. However, I didn’t need their full service package, so I specified exactly what I needed them to do, and most quoted me $500-800 for my specific needs. So if a DOC is providing lots of services you won’t need from them, definitely ask them if they will do customized packages for your specific needs!

Hi Oshi! This can vary a lot based on the specific services provided and also based on your location, but WeddingWire's Cost Guide is a great tool to use to get an idea:

It depends on what you need them to do. I’m having a micro-wedding and I only need her to show up and play our ceremony music, usher people into the cocktail hour room if they’re not moving (lol), announce the cake cutting, and okay our first dance music and a slideshow. She calls it her MC package because she’s basically being our MC and actually not coordinating much. This is $500
