What is a wedding website?

Kim, on July 9, 2013 at 6:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hey ladies! So I've been seeing lots of posts about wedding websites but not quite sure what they're used for than the obvious wedding planning. I looked in to one one time but they wanted me to pay, which I was not going to do. If you have to pay for all of them, what makes them so great? Does it have something to do with your registry? When it comes to my planning, all i have is my bible (my wedding binder), files on my laptop and my pinterest boards. Just curious.

They are actually for your guests, not for you. Some people use them to tell cute background stories in addition to information about the event.

Mine just has info on it (venue, hotel/shuttle info, etc). Feel free to look at mine:

PS - it was free Smiley smile

We made one on here through wedding wire for free, and I know theknot does one for free as well. It just gives your guests a place to go where all your information is from ceremony, reception to hotel rooms, registry, etc. If you go to the Wedding drop down tab on this site it will say wedding website and you can choose a template and go from there. It's actually pretty simple to do and it's a great thing to have. We included the link on our STD so they would have everything ahead of time before the invitations since everyone is having to travel for our Wedding.

A wedding website is used usually to give your guests more information about you, your FH and more importantly the wedding.

Some people people information about hotel room blocks (if you are having any), time and place for ceremony and reception, links to registry (again, if you are having any), also sometimes things to do in that area, especially helpful if you are having a lot of our of town guests and people also like to share their love story about how them and their FH meet, got engaged, etc.

Oh! Okay! Thanks for clearing that up ladies! If it's free, I will defiantly make one lol. It does seem like a good thing to put on the STD's.

Jules, I'm basically copying your entire layout because I have no idea. Don't mean to be a creeper lol Thanks this is a helpful tool!

They're definitely not necessary, but it's a good way to communicate info with all of your guests. Ours took maybe 30 minutes to make. Pretty easy formatting on WW.

No problem - others have ones that are much more interesting than mine, I just wanted info no fluff!
