What dresses are acceptable for a zoo wedding in May?

Private User, on August 3, 2014 at 5:01 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

I really like the idea of convertible dresses for my bridesmaids, and the only examples I've seen are long chiffon dresses. I had initially planned on short-length dresses for my bridesmaids, and I suppose the alteration would be pretty simple to chop off the bottom half. If I want to go with a plum color for the dresses, but my wedding is in May and outdoors at a zoo, would long-length dresses be inappropriate? I'm not sure if long-length dresses in plum in chiffon = not appropriate for spring outdoor wedding. I'm not sure if I'm being too rigid with my "rules." Thoughts?

They have short chiffon dresses. I like that color and I've always liked short dresses. If you have an Alfred Angelo near you check them out. I think that will work with your venue.

I would say shorter is better and let them wear short heels bc isn't the point of having a zoo wedding ( what I have seen on tv) is that you can go into parts of the zoo and feed animals? I really like your color. I don't know if they make dresses like this but what about looking for something the has a tie at the bottom if you want to go long so then they can pull the string and cinch it up for the reception

My BMs all love the idea of the convertible dresses. In the next week or so we'Lloyd be ordering dresses off Etsy. They will be custom made for each bridesmaid, and their lengths will vary. Not bad for the price of $68_$88 depending on short vs maxi length. We're using WomenLand on Etsy for the dresses.

There's a knee length convertible dress on etsy I was considering. I think it's only $39 too. They call it an infinity dress though.

Dessy makes a short convertible dress in a high quality jersey.

Though, I think something long and in chiffon would be okay for a spring wedding at a zoo-- just stay away from more formal fabrics like satin or taffeta.

Here's the link to an etsy shop called "thedaintyard" this length is for their deep purple/plum/grape color. $34. Comes with matching tube top to go underneath for more versatility and modest wearers. https://www.etsy.com/listing/158646421/grape-bridesmaid-convertible-dress?ref=cat_gallery_16&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery

They have convertible shorter dresses on lightinthebox.com. I'm not sure of the price because they always have sales but hopefully that helps.

I think the length of the dress completely depends on what the weather will be like in your area around your wedding day. I would say something longer if you think it will be cooler and something shorter if its hotter. I would suggest a tea length or a knee length gown so you could have the best of both it isn't a short dress but it isn't so long that length becomes an issue.

Gold Nugget, I was thinking zebra print, LOL!

To lighten up the plum, pink & white bouquets.
