What do you think of wedge salads?

Michelle, on April 15, 2018 at 10:37 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 18
My fiancé and I really like iceberg wedge salads mainly because you can drench them in delicious blue cheese dressing and bacon...! We are choosing between serving that or a frisse salad with pear, hazelnuts, goat cheese and vinaigrette, which was also delicious.

While we both like wedge salads, I’m afraid people might think of them as cheap??? I know it’s our day but something of high importance to us is the food and we don’t want people thinking poorly of it.

I don’t think there is anything cheap about a wedge salad. It is simply a type of salad. And I agree that it is a delicious option!

Honestly, I'd go with the frisée salad because it's going to be a lot lighter and more people would be able to enjoy like vegetarians and Kosher folks. That wedge salad sounds very dense. Maybe see if the caterer would be willing to do the wedge just for you two and the frisée for everyone else

I don't think the wedge sounds cheap but I can't stand blue cheese so I wouldn't eat it. I've heard of some people not liking goat cheese, but I've heard of more not liking blue cheese.

Personally, I would prefer the second option, and I think that it would appeal to a wider variety of preferences. I wouldn't think the first option is cheap, and if that is what you want you could have an option to hold the bacon or use turkey bacon for anyone who doesn't eat pork.

I love wedge salads. I'm not a fan of salads with fruit in them.

I definitely don’t think it sounds cheap as I’ve only ever seen it in really nice restaurants. But I’m not a fan of them personally.

Oops didn’t mean to send, I would probably prefer a wedge to your other salad choice though (I’m a picky eater!)

I'd rather have the frisse salad. It sounds a lot more appetizing

Sometimes I have a hard time eating a wedge salad neatly... no clue why haha. They both sound delicious.

Everyone I know considers iceberg to be junk and not a salad. My fiancé wouldn't touch it nor would my mom etc.

Wedge salad sounds much safer than a frisse salad, which a lot of people won’t eat. However, can the bacon be on the side to accommodate vegetarians?

I think the second salad would appeal to more people. While I love wedge salads, the second one just seems a little more high end for a wedding if that makes sense.

I'd do the frisse salad, it sounds delicious. There's nothing special about huge chunk of lettuce.

Personally I hate wedge salads & the frisse sounds delish. However if you & fiancé love wedge salads then go for it! Then you know at least two people will be super happy with the salad!

Hi Michelle! They both seemed like good selections! Which did you end up providing?
