What Do You Do When.....?

Meredith, on September 10, 2019 at 5:14 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 16
What do you do when a grandparent can't make it but you want to include them? I've heard of putting a charm or something like that in your bouquet but I want to do something that she can view later besides the photos. Any suggestions?

I would record the ceremony or stream it for sure. My cousin had a table at her wedding that was just family pictures of everyone whether they had passed or just couldn't make it or did make it. So it had pictures of their parents, grandparents, cousins, etc.

One of my friends got married this summer, her husband's dad has cancer and they weren't sure if he was going to make it to the ceremony or anything. They had it set up with the videographer that he was going to stream it to his dad if needed

Her husband's dad was able to make it to the ceremony and the dinner part of the reception. But the Tuesday or Wednesday before the wedding they weren't sure so they had that as the back up plan.

Stream it or have someone video chat them. Charms in the bouquet is ver cute I'm doing that for all my grandparents who have passed away.

Daughter found a penny with the date of the year both sets of her grandparents were married (they happened to marry in the same year). FOB drilled a small hole in it, and we tied it with a gold cord to her bouquet. The photographer got photos where you can actually read the year on the penny. We included that photo in an album we made for g-ma! Smiley winking We also wrapped daughter's bouquet with fabric from my mother's dress, but she saw that from heaven.... Smiley heart

I'm so glad it worked out so he could be at the ceremony. After all, that's what it's all about. The rest is just extra!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm not sure why I didn't think of it. I like the idea of charms in the bouquet!

That's so sweet! I like how it's a small, meaningful gesture not everyone knows about but that's special to those who do know about it.

Our DJ will have a great vantage point of the entire wedding. We may ask him to record the ceremony for us.

I would record or live stream! I had a friend live stream on Facebook from Aruba because some friends and family couldn't make it.

That's so cool! We're thinking of having a friend walk around so it's like the viewer is walking through the wedding. They'll come up to the head table & we'll wave & say hello. I think it'll be pretty neat!
