What did you give your bridesmaids, and Moh?

Rebecca, on February 6, 2018 at 4:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 20
I'm not sure what would be good gifts. I see tote bags, robes, and tumblers all over etsy and I'm not very excited about those. What did you pick out for your bridal team?

So I found some little zippered makeup bags that say bridesmaids and maid of honor at Hobby lobby in the wedding stuff section. I'm planning on making a day of survival kit. Nail polish a necklace, nail file, tylonol, things like that!

Anything you give your bridal party that you require them to wear or use for your wedding is not a gift but a "prop." Avoid getting things that say "bridesmaid" or "maid of honor" because they are rarely enjoyed after your wedding. Shop for each girl like it is her birthday. The gift doesn't need to be expensive, but should be heartfelt.

People say "shop like it's their birthday" but honestly my friends and I don't do birthday gifts. I agree with avoiding the props or anything that's labeled with "bridesmaid". I'd rather get one quality item than a gift bag or tote of cheap items. My wedding is in November and I've thought of Christmas-type gifts like really nice scarf and gloves. One of my BM's is really into high end make up and beauty products so buying something I know she'll love related to beauty is an idea. My MOHs are both mothers so maybe a giftcard for a spa day or massage. I've also seen subscription services like for wine. I'll definitely consider each BM's personality and try to buy something that caters to them specifically.

Give them something that they can actually use and enjoy. I am most likely getting them:

-Unique piece of jewelry (not for the wedding)

-3-month subscription to a different subscription box, unique to each girl's hobbies

    -Coffee mug or wine glass

-Probably a bottle of wine or alcohol

Although it is not part of their gift, I may get them a piece of jewelry to wear depending on what dresses they pick and a nice sleeveless button down shirt from Express that they can wear getting ready.

I bought them each a Get Carries Away Tote from Vera Bradley and matching wallet (all different patterns rather than one for everyone). DH got them all necklaces for the wedding and even though they were technically props, I thought it was sweet.

I'm having silver bangles hand made with their names stamped on them and two stones that represent my wedding colours.

I’m doing a “cozy at home” theme. Getting them nice, soft pajamas, a mug that I’ll choose individually as I find ones that fit them, coffee or tea depending on what they like, and mini jar candles. Maybe a nail polish too since all my girls poke fun at my extensive collection.

In my circle it’s totally normal to get stuff to use for the wedding as long as it’s stuff you’ll use later. I’ve gotten some really nice jewelry over the years that I still wear today.

I am having my friend paint something from them. She is a very talented artist and all my BMs and I have a song that really relates to our friendship so I am doing something with that. I just wanted something different since everything is the same.

I love working with glass, so I'm trying to make them necklaces. These will not be for the wedding day, just a necklace that makes me think of them 😊. Right now everything is totally random and im still working on them, hopefully they aren't too tacky

Though since these are totally random, I'm probably keeping the bees and sea shell beads separate from the pendants

I keep shopping for them here and there and it’s actually all been on sale so far. Each girl will get a few things each and they will be all different gifts so I am basically shopping like it’s their birthday. So far I have bought: Face masks for all, 1 Michael kors perfume for $18 originally 50, a bath bomb, a cute wine glass with our state (one BM just moved across country and is home sick), nail polish, make up brush set. Still more to get. I want to get a few girls gift cards such as one BM loves TJ Maxx and we used to go there a lot in college. Some might get jewelry (not for wedding). I’m getting my MOH a massage gift certificate. I plan to get a bottle of wine for everyone, their fav kind.

Ive been in a few weddings and I’ve appreciated wine, perfume, body lotion, and face masks. I’m not a fan of embroidered or things with my name/intials on them or bridesmaid anything. In a wedding last year all of the girls got nice kate spade clutches but I haven’t used it since the wedding. Get them something you know they’ll love and is practical. It all adds up and you’d hate to spend money on something that will not be used or worn 😊

I have just my MOH and she's been AMAZING over the last year with all the crazy wedding planning and events! I'm giving her a swag bag to a few weeks before we depart for Mexico (DW!). it includes: wet bikini bag, passport holder, luggage tags, waterproof phone case, make-up bag, beach bag, tumbler, a mani-pedi at the resort, a waterproof charger, and a few other small, silly things. I'm also giving her and her husband a gift card for their favorite restaurant and movie passes. My MOH has done so much and spent time away from her amazing husband - I wanted to treat them to a date night as a way to say "thank you!".

Our wedding is at a resort that has an amazing spa, and I am going to be gifting my girls with a gift certificate to the spa to be used the day before the wedding. I figure, giving them a memorable experience that we can all share together, and feel pampered, is way more valuable than some piece of clothing they can only wear on the wedding day or some item that has "bridesmaid" inscribed on it. Sometimes experiences are better, not always, but I would suggest something like that.

I’ve given them each a mini POP champagne bottle, satin floral robes, makeup brushes, mascara and flip flops (nothing with the words “bridesmaid” or “maid of honor”).

I'm getting my bridesmaids personalized tumblers. I was going to put their role in my wedding underneath their name, but I want them to be able to use it after the wedding, so I'm not going to.

I'm also getting one for myself that does say bride, but that's for me so I can put anything I want on it Smiley tongue

The tumblers will also be filled with candy and a little personal wine bottle for the morning of to do a little toast before we all walk down the aisle.

I'm just keeping it simple, but I think they'll like them Smiley smile

My sister got her bridesmaids wine glasses that were hand painted with the dresses we wore! They were beautiful and I still love mine years later!
