What did you drink on your wedding day?

Erin, on September 3, 2017 at 6:02 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 37

I know the answers to this will vary wildly, as the decision to drink and what on your wedding day is a personal one...

So what, how much and when did you drink on your wedding day? Getting ready, after ceremony, dinner, late night after party? Wine, beer, hard liquor? Did you limit yourself?

I drank one glass of champagne while we were getting ready, a glass of cava right after the recessional with the entire bridal party and our parents, I had a couple of our whiskey signature shots, a glass of cava with dinner, and one signature tequila drink.

I may start the day with a mimosa; but then water, water, water til the reception. Even then, it'll be wine spritzers n water throughout the night, is my guess. We have a 4 hour drive the following day n I don't want to feel like crap :o I don't see FH or myself really getting wasted/just tipsy.

I drank coffee while getting ready. A Coke before we left for the venue. And water the rest of the day. Never had time to drink

@Erin Thanks! All of my friends kept pulling me over to the bar for celebratory shots! It also dulled the pain of our horrible DOC ruining the day.

I just got married in June. I drank mimosas while getting ready. Not as many as my bridal party, but only because my getting ready process took longer. I got married at a brewery that brewed us a special beer for the occasion. It was a watermelon hefeweizen that was low in alcohol. I drank that for most of the reception. It was perfect because it was low alcohol so I could drink quite a few without getting wasted before the night was over. I did a few whiskey shots with my dad, but not enough to put me over the edge. I was not sober by any means at the end, but aware enough to have a great wedding night with my hubby.

Welp I guess I'm the odd one out... I drank a shit ton. Mimosas getting ready, wine and rum and coke at the reception (great combo, I know) and some beers mixed in. Afterwards the hotel bartender kept feeding me free mixed drinks with like every type of alcohol. I wanted to celebrate all the planning being done and just have a great time. I paced myself so I didn't get sick because I also wanted to remember it Smiley smile

Mimosas during hair/makeup, champagne during getting dressed time, and one glass of champagne at the reception. I was too busy talking to people to drink much!

Lol!! I drank a shit ton. Probably waayyy too much. It's my wedding I was going to celebrate. I drank 2 mimosas while getting ready. They were small i guess, I didn't feel it. 2 glasses of wine during cocktail hour. Then during the reception I had 2 bottles of hard cider (I don't like beer) a few glasses of champagne, and a shot of whiskey. yyeahhh.. I had a good time.

I had a glass of champagne before and after the ceremony, during dinner a Malibu Bay Breeze, white wine, and I had a Bailey's shot inside a chocolate cup when our chocolate shot bar came out after dessert.

Other than the Bailey's, I only had sips of everything else; I didn't finish anything.

I had one of our signature cocktails and a sip of champagne during the toasts. I did not want drunk eyes for any of the pictures. At our after party I had a couple of beers with our guests.

A little champagne on the wedding day itself. A couple of strawberry mimosas at the at-home reception. I'm not a big drinker.

Champagne while getting ready, actually a lot of champagne and then white wine the rest of the night but water in between. Had a great time but no hangover the next day.

I had a mimosa (or two) in the morning while getting ready, a glass of wine before the ceremony, a glass of champagne immediately after the ceremony, then a glass of wine (and maybe one more of champagne) with dinner and cake.

I didn't get to partake in my fabulous premium open bar because I was too busy dancing!

I drank less than I thought I would...

We started stupid early with HMU, so coffee was the first part. Then my MOH made me a ginormous mimosa (I told her I was only drinking one, so she made it for me in a huge coffee mug that said "I'm getting married, bitches!" on the front). Champagne at the reception. And a TON of water throughout the day.

Also, I decided about 45 minutes before our ceremony that I was going to go crazy if I absolutely didn't get a vanilla milkshake. So my brother and SIL got me one.

H and I are big fans of a good drink or several, but I drank very little on the wedding day. I had a mimosa with brunch, one of our signature cocktails during cocktail hour, and a few sips of champagne during toasts.

I knew I didn't want to hit it too hard, but I would have expected to drink a bit more than that. I just wound up not having any appetite that day.

Started with a glass of Verdi, had a bottle of water during first look pictures because it was hot and humid and I was dying. Had one signature rum punch during cocktail hour and half of one after that. Then I drank and ate NOThING

I limit myself to 2 glasses of wine an evening. I drank nothing but water, getting ready. One glass of red wine during the cocktail hour, but I was socializing too much for much else. Plus the glass of champagne, used for our toast.

My husband drank more that night then I've ever seen him drink. No wedding night sex - he passed out.
