What did you drink on your wedding day?

Erin, on September 3, 2017 at 6:02 PM

I know the answers to this will vary wildly, as the decision to drink and what on your wedding day is a personal one... So what, how much and when did you drink on your wedding day? Getting ready, after ceremony, dinner, late night after party? Wine, beer, hard liquor? Did you limit yourself?

I am honestly so worried about this. I do NOT want to get drunk, I do NOT want to get sick. But once I start 'getting there', and i'm partying, I am not going to know my limit. lol. I told my mom that someone is gonna have to keep track of my intake. I do plan on having some wine before the ceremony for that liquid confidence, and then pacing myself w tons and tons of water.

I had a cup of coffee, lots of water, champagne at lunch time, more water, then one of our signature drinks (blood orange lemonade mimosa, so more champagne) during cocktail hour, then champagne and water at the reception (lots of water).

I am thinking my day will consist of the following and in this order: Coffee, water, mimosa, more water, half a glass of white wine, maybe a shot of Jamison, water, another glass of wine with dinner and then beer - I ordered a case of my favorite IPA for the reception. and top it off with some more water.

I'll probably drink some coffee and water for the day. My body doesn't react well to even a small amount of alcohol so no adult beverages for me! Haha.

1 mimosa getting ready, a glass of wine at cocktail hour and a glass of champagne for the toast. Then a Moscow mule after the reception when we all migrated downstairs to the live band playing in the restaurant part of the venue. I felt buzzed off that one glass of wine so I didn't want to drink a lot after that. I'm a super light weight and forget things too easily when drinking so i just drank water and danced my butt off with everyone.

@Lindsey, Im right there with you! Mimosas while getting ready. Shots as it got closer. Beer during pictures and then vodka during the reception. All I can say is yikes. I wish I drank a tad less. My plan was to hang out with everyone after....that did not happen. I left right after it was over. It was an absolute fantastic time!

Coffee while getting ready, 1/2 bottle of sparkling almond wine in the limo (while taking pics after the wedding), and a few sips of champagne during toasts at the reception. Honestly, I was too busy to drink too much!

Edit: also drank a lot of water throughout the entire day/evening!

I know I'll be doing coffee, bloody Mary's, and water. I like champagne but I don't like mimosas.

I started my day getting ready w a Dunks ice coffee, then lots of water leading to ceremony, apple cider for the "champagne" toast, and virgin Mojitos throughout the reception (none of which I finished) in case you haven't guessed.....I'm a non-drinker!! LOL

I think I had a sip of champagne. I'm not a big drinker.

My plan (not a big drinker) is coffee and water getting ready, maybe wine or something during cocktail house and champagne during dinner. considering a signature drink so maybe that instead. I don't drink much in general so one glass of wine does it for me haha.

I don't plan on drinking alcohol at all. Probably just water the entire day until dinner time, then it'll probably be Dr. Pepper.
