What colors go/complement with persimmon (dark orange) for my wedding?

Tricia , on January 9, 2012 at 9:03 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 22

Help...I chose Persimmon to be the bridemaids' dresses because I love the color, but was wondering what I should have as my accent color to decorate the wedding reception...any suggestions. I'm getting married in August on Hunter Ski Mountain, NY...

A friend of mine used this color with a deep purple. It looked very nice. What about a light blue? Brown may look nice, too.

One of my brides (actually two of them; it was a same sex wedding, lol) used deep purple and dark orange together. It was stunning.

I love the colors Hayley picked! I was going to say maybe lime green and yellow?

Thank you all for your responses!!!...I love the purple and orange idea, but do yo think it looks like a fall wedding? The reception will take place at the bottom of the ski area but I want the vibe to be fun, summery...Could I get away with this with purple...I also love the lime and light blue ideas..it's just so hard to picture it...this is stressing me! lol

If you want fun, then go with the blue or lime.

There are no real blue flowers, so the aqua would need to come out in ribbons, necklaces, shoes, cake, linens, frames, card box, candles, etc..... And aqua/tiffany blue/teal... it is a color that comes in SO many shades so you might drive yourself crazy if you need things to Exactly match.

Lime - there are TONS of lime colored flowers, so that might be the easier route to go and still be bright and fun!

If you want a whimsical wedding, various shades of blue are very beautiful with persimmon/orange. On a color wheel, blue is complimentary to orange, so as long as you keep the tones similar, it will work and be beautiful. Smiley smile My friend had a SUPER fun circus themed wedding and chose orange and various shades of teal; it was AMAZINGLY beautiful and very fun!!

Blue is the complementary colour to orange, so I think that would be great, especially a lighter blue, to keep it from being too fall like.

I highly highly highly suggest you don't go with brown. My brother and I alone have been to 3 orange and brown weddings in the last 6 months. Yes, it's a nice colour combo, but it's been done TO DEATH! (sorry Talisa, persimmon and truffle does sound pretty)

My colors are burnt orange and copper. Persimmon is kinda in that field. My flowers were going to be orange voodoo roses.

You could do bright orange with a deep red and khaki. Then you could incorporate some woodsy elements if you wanted, since your wedding is at a ski hill. One of my friends is doing that- using twine and burlap here and there.

I love the pics Hayley posted of the peach & champagne, and also the aqua.

I'd say if you want "summery", I would use one of those palettes, or pair it with something bright like fuschia.

I am using a lighter persimmon and a true purple. I think they look awesome together and surprisingly FH is the one that picked the colors lol

This might sound weird (for some reason people dont get it) but for the guys they have the orange tie and vest with a purple pocket square and the girls will be in orange and the ribbon around the flowers will be in purple. I have a pic of the flowers that I am liking on my insperation board if you wanted to look at them. I am trying to make sure my wedding looks like summer too so even though the main colors are orange and purple im gonna try to put bright colors into the flowers to try to make it pop.
