What are your cake flavors?

There are SO many cake flavors to pick from that my fiance and I are having a tough time deciding! What cake flavors/fillings did you decide on? Are you keeping it traditional or having something unique?

We have 3 tiers of lemon w/ raspberry filling, 2 tiers of classic wedding cake with vanilla buttercream, and 1 tier of strawberry with strawberry filling. We also have a smaller 2 tier gluten free chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream.

Both of our cakes are Honey Bun flavor with vanilla buttercream.
It’s an amazing cinnamon vanilla cake and so light and fluffy.

We are going with a crepe cake with orange blossom mousse filling. For an idea of how they look:

Ours will be single tier since we only have 50 guests, but they are so pretty!

We had a three tier cake. First tier was chocolate cake with mocha filling. Second tier was yellow cake with lemon filling and third tier was red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. All were frosted with whipped cream frosting.

We got four different flavors, German chocolate, Boston Cream, GF Strawberry, and Raspberry Champagne. If you are planning on tiering your cake you will pay a lot more for it. I am doing 4 round cakes (10") and one of them is gluten-free for allergies all for $280 with delivery and set up and the stands included.

We are going super plain with the cake (white with either lemon or fresh berry filling) and then having a variety of donut flavors

    We kept the cake traditional.

Death by Chocolate was the bottom layer and almond was the top.

Second cake was Strawberries and Champagne.

Cake pops: Lemon, chocolate, and red velvet.

4 tiers semi-naked cake, vanilla with vanilla custard filling and caramel buttercream coating. It was AWESOME at the cake tasting. I want it to look kind of like this -

We also liked a chocolate cake and raspberry buttercream filling option... but honestly it seemed a bit rich and heavy for the level of drinking we expect!

Guess I'm the only one who's truly out there? We haven't done the tasting yet, but this bakery does awesome seasonal flavor combinations and is great about using different textures and flavors.

We're thinking a three tier cake...
Bottom tier: a lemon/blueberry cake with lemon curd, blueberry compote, and lemon buttercream
Middle: Almond cake with cranberry compote and toasted marshmallow buttercream
Top: Brown butter rosemary cake with vanilla buttercream

And because they only make 3 tier cakes large enough for 80 people and I'm expecting between 110 and 120, I'm going to do an additional 10" cake that's a family favorite recipe. It's a chocolate spice cake with mocha buttercream, so that will act as a groom's cake. We're also doing a gelato bar, so there will be plenty of dessert.

Grapefruit and thyme with blueberry filling and a champagne buttercream for one tier and the second is an orange poppyseed with honey buttercream (semi frosted, not a fan of buttercream). His grooms cake a surprise for him will be a chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake.

Then assorted whoopie pies - trad choc/vanilla, jalapeño vanilla, shoofly, and pumpkin. With assorted sugar cookies to fill out the take and take home treats for guests.

We haven't found a bakery or done tastings yet but we already know we need to find someone to do pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting. Very specifically NOT pumpkin spice...actual pumpkin! There is a huge difference between the 2 and we LOVE pumpkin (Our wedding will be in October which in my opinion is pumpkin season!) We are also thinking about just doing a small cake for us to cut and then have cupcakes to serve.

Neither my Fiance or I like cake so we took a not traditional approach and decided to do donuts. We are doing a donut bar with all custom toppings and icings. We are excited!
