What are you procrastinating?

Kaitlyn, on January 13, 2020 at 2:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

So I'm 130 days out and I have my invitations but I just haven't addressed them yet. FH wanted me to do it this weekend but I procrastinated badly.

I'm also having a hard time getting over to see my great-aunt who has my mom's dress which I'm wearing. I took it to her at the end of October and I know it fits me but the sleeves are long and very outdated. I would happily wear it without them, but since my mother has passed away and this dress is a memory of her, I'm very anxious about asking my aunt to take the sleeves off. I don't even know if she can, the way the applique is. I texted her about it a week ago, and she hasn't gotten back to me. Sigh.

Next thing to do is get the decorations and flowers that I want. I'm seeing my MOH tomorrow night and I'm gonna talk about some things with her.

What are you guys putting off doing?

    1. You have time to do the invites! We mailed ours out today (103 days out). 2. I think changing up the sleeves isn’t ruining the dress, it’s giving it a better legacy- blending you and your mom’s fashion together. I just took a piece of my mom’s dress and am using it to hold my bouquet.

As for procrastination: HMU trials 😕 I just don’t have the time to go and I don’t really see much of a point- they’re just braiding my hair why do I need to pay for them to do it twice. Make up sure, but hair? Meh. I just don’t wanna do it. Also wedding jewelry! No idea what I want

FH wanted to mail them out today, but our RSVP deadline is 4/8 so I think we'll be okay. It'll give us enough time to contact stragglers and get all our numbers to our vendors.

As for the dress, it's just hard for me to say what I want without feeling like I'm asking for so much. And I know it's MY wedding, so I should have things the way I want, I'm just nervous.

Oh, that reminds me, I'm also putting off getting my hair colored. It's a medium brown with some reddish hues to it now, and I want to go back to a more natural sandy blonde for the wedding. My MOH is my best friend and also my hairdresser, so it's like getting 3 birds (decor ideas, hair color, and wedding hairstyle) with 1 stone when I see her tomorrow. We've talked about a friend of ours doing my makeup, but I'm not sure about what I want yet.

Ugh, we all definitely go through those phases. Once you push through and just start to do it, it'll go faster. I'm avoiding flowers! I only need them for bouquets and bouts. and I know that they're gonna over charge or have a minimum that's ridiculous. Plus my venue is in NJ and I live in NY so I need to take a day and go down there. I'll do it eventually.

I avoided finding an officiant for so long that it got to the point where my FMIL got ordained just in case we couldn't find anyone. At first FH was looking but then he just stopped and I ended up picking up the reigns and finding someone on here. Once I booked that, everything felt so much more real!!

I had the same thing happen for flowers, bouquets and bouts and decor and all was like over $5k and I was not having that. I'm going to DIY the bouquets and bouts and have minimal (and possibly fake) floral's for the ceremony, really more lights and candles and stuff for the tables.

Meeting up with my aunt to get the items to make my bouquets. She volunteered to make them since I would not do a great job at making them. But we need to buy the stuff soon. I love spending time with her, but I also have no idea how to describe what I want and my inspiration pictures are all over the place. I think once I meet with her, I'm just going to be hands off and let her make them because I know she knows what will look good. She has done this many times before.

Has she done wedding bouquets before? You're lucky you have someone who knows what they're doing! Myself, my sister and my MOH are all very DIY-ish, crafty, artsy kind of people so I'm hoping we can pull it together!

She has made her 2 daughters wedding bouquets and family friends bouquets as well. I have only seen the ones she has made for my cousins but they were gorgeous. I'm just having a hard time nailing down what I want. I think I have the shape I want and she said that's a good place to start. I can do some DIY stuff but some things are just above my ability and this would be one of them. Oh and she is making the boutonnieres too, at first I just thought we could go without but she volunteered to make them.

We need fo figure out the playlist for the dj, and I need to start on the seating chart. My wonderful fmil has graciously started helping with the latter, which I'm grateful for, but I need to get placecards ordered. I'm just procrastinating lol. And favors.

Hoping for a July wedding and well... we haven't even picked the venue! So... like everything?

Honestly I have a nice plan (knock on wood) from here, but I've had my dream wedding planned since I was 15, but since then I left the Catholic church where I had originally intended to get married. They will not let me have it there and my family and his family keep getting offended by mere venue suggestions. I love my family to death but why is it hurtful that I don't want an outdoor wedding in Texas in July?

Regardless I will need lots of prayers for my sanity...

The music playlist. I wouldn't consider music a huge part of my life. I turn it on for noise and that is about it. Haha. At this point I think I will just tell the musicians the musicians I actually like and let them figure out the rest. Lol

I'm having this problem too! We're not really a dancing crowd, and I kind of have processional music picked out, but we haven't decided on first dance songs or anything. And I have no idea what to play during the reception! Might let the DJ wing it, or send the app he uses to my bride tribe and let them pick some songs people would like.

I have 39 days and yea, I haven't worked on music we want or pictures I would like. I have yet to put together the seating chart for guests to know which table they are at. No guest book yet, no garters purchased, I have no jewelry picked out or hair piece minus my veil. Trying to figure out when my next and final fitting will be. BMs are still not fitted but they have their dresses (whew) Missing items to compete my center pieces, haven't put together what our sweetheart table will look like, although none of that will matter if I cant get the floating candles ordered soon for all the candles at the reception. Yikes! I have a ton to do.

You have time to send invites, I heard 6-8 weeks is a good time frame to send out invites so I think you are ok on that end of it.
