What are you excited about?

Chrysta, on November 17, 2020 at 12:01 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 32
With all the negativity surrounding weddings lately - especially with all the election drama and COVID-19 surging again- I thought it would be nice to have a positive thread to get us excited about our weddings and planning again!
So... what aspect of your wedding do you thing your guests are going to be most excited about? What do you think will most surprise them? Is there one thing you or your fiancé are super excited about (besides the obvious- marrying your spouse!)? Share the details!!

I think our guests are going to be most excited about traveling to NOLA for our wedding and getting to have a fun little mini vacation. I think they will also be excited about the activities we have planned for each day (I made sure to choose things they probably would never experience anywhere else). I think they will be most surprised by the entertainment at the reception (tarot card reader and caricature artist). I am most excited about wearing my dress, seeing our flowers, and seeing my fiancé experience New Orleans for the first time.

I think our guests will be excited/surprised about our wedding ceremony site! Our venue has a gorgeous open-air chapel that is just so unique and minimal. We're also having a whole roasted pig on the buffet table (I'm half Filipino and having one at special events is a MUST). I think that aspect will shock/surprise our non Filipino guests because it's something special to our culture, and they probably don't see that everyday haha! I also think they'll like our favor table! They get drink koozies, while their furbabies get a 'doggie bag' full of treats!

I'm most excited about having all our friends and family together to celebrate. I'm also very excited for the moment that I walk down the aisle and get to see my FH waiting for me. It's a moment that makes me all teary eyed just thinking about it, and I can't wait! Smiley heart

I'm super excited about your wedding as well! I love reading your posts about the details and thought that went into planning! If you plan on posting a BAM....best believe I will be reading that post! Smiley laugh

That is some unique entertainment for the reception! Love those ideas!

I think our guests will be excited for traveling to our wedding! We're doing a semi-destination wedding in our state in my favorite area, and everyone will have to travel at least 2 hours to be there. Most of our guests have never visited the area, so we're super excited for them to get to experience it. We intentionally picked a Friday wedding so that our guests have all day Saturday to visit the area (and we have a few day-after activities planned for anyone that wants to join us). I'm most excited to celebrate with a lot of my friends who I haven't gotten to see in a while (due to everyone living all around the country), our photo guest book, and our first look.

I spent a week in NOLA for a conference in 2018 - to be honest, when I got accepted to speak at the conference, I was so disappointed the conference was in NOLA and not one of there other previous awesome locations. With two colleagues, we stayed at the Marriott convention… And we did a few tours, explored like the jazz area, the markets, the downtown, and it was absolutely amazing. I literally told everybody I knew after this vacation/business trip, they have to go there at least once LOL it was an April, and the hotel had an outdoor pool and super nice Jacuzzi area with palm tree surrounding it, it was like 75 every day a little bit humid and rainy some days, but it was amazing. The culture and history that this city possesses is fantastic. Being from Michigan, it blew my mind at some of the stuff I saw 😂 I travel the world, but gator burgers and gator this and gator that. I’m like what the. The cemeteries have history, the plantations, the music. Love it! Hope to go back in a couple years. Hope they have a blast!

Omg I looooooove an open air chapel!! I really wanted to be married in one, but couldn’t find any close to NOLA 😭 Love the pig roast too! I had one for my H.S. graduation. It definitely shocked some people! Haha But tasted delicious! Your doggy bag favors are the cutest idea ❤️ I can’t wait to see your BAM also!!

Yes!! NOLA is literally my favorite place in the US (so far anyway... I still haven’t made it to Salem for Halloween yet, and it may give it a run for it’s money LOL). Before my first trip there, I had no idea about all the amazing, interesting (and just downright odd) history there. The first evening there we did a late night walking vampire tour. It was so interesting! And it wasn’t until after the tour was over that I realized our amazing tour guide had tricked me into learning history! LOL And I swear it is worth the flight just to eat the food! 🤤

I think our guests are really going to enjoy and be surprised when one of the groomsman will stop walking down the aisle with one of the bridesmaids (his wife) once they reach the halfway point, spin a fanny pack around, put on sunglasses and start dancing towards the stage and tossing flower petals to the song "Sunglasses at Night" by Corey Hart.

Both my fiance and I are really excited about when we finally get to see each other once I start to walk down. I am also very excited and eager for when I get to have my "first-look" with my son, to see his reaction.

Oh my gosh I'm excited for so many aspects of my wedding. I'm excited to go back to Chicago and see family and friends I haven't seen in 5 years. I'm excited for my venue, which is an urban winery with an industrial vibe but still feels kind of private and set apart from the city bustle. I'm excited to spoil myself for a day, too, with a fancy dress and makeup and a manicure and all of that. But I think one of the things I'm most excited about is for my FH and his family to see Chicago, and the US, for the first time. I love planning events and trips that I think other people will enjoy, and I'm really excited for he and his family to see where I'm from.

There will be a wine tasting during the cocktail hour that I think my guests will love, along with the food. I think they'll also really like the venue in general, which is different than the typical city hotel ballroom. I also think our guests will be surprised by each other, haha! I'm curious/nervous/excited to see how our two sets of guests from different countries who speak different languages interact. My FH is excited to have groomsmen, too, because it'll be a complete novelty to him.

Your NOLA wedding sounds like it'll be such a blast! I can't wait to see the pics.

I think your NOLA wedding will be beautiful and super fun! Love it there. Our wedding venue is actually brick buildings inspired by New Orleans.

I think people will be excited for our food and music. We're doing a brunch wedding and besides the brunch options (chicken and waffles, brisket on a biscuit, etc.), we'll be having a cinnamon bun bar where people can add their own toppings, as well as ordering danishes from our favorite restaurant. For the music, we've hired a live duo who have fantastic voices that I think will really enhance the relaxed vibe we're going for. My fiance is most excited about the espresso bar. He loves his coffee all day, everyday.

I think our family & friends are going to be most excited about us FINALLY getting married. We first started dating back in ‘99 & were together for 11 yrs when we called it quits. I moved away to the Phoenix area for 6 years but came back to northern AZ for my grandmother’s 100th birthday party. We met for dinner & when he came around the corner, my heart skipped a beat, butterflies in my stomach- the whole 9 yards! We both know we are meant for each other. I’m glad we had those 6yrs apart because we both had some serious growing up to do! I look at him & just know I’m where I’m supposed to be!
I’m most excited about finally having a real wedding with all the trimmings! Hopefully, COVID won’t ruin our honeymoon in Jamaica!

I am getting too excited about this but seeing my fiancé for the first time as I walk down the aisle, we are not doing a first look so I am really excited, I think the guests are really looking forward to our food choices we are keeping it non traditional and fun with a dessert bar. my kids are excited about the desserts.
